Okay okay I get it she wants less insulin...so tonight regardless we are going down because otherwise I think we are just going to keep diving and bouncing at this point especially if .4 will take her from 289 to 31 in 6 hours. That just can't feel good.

Re: 12/20 Autumn with a flare for the dramatic +6~31!!

Looking good, Ms. Autumn! I really want to use the chearleader smilies across the page, but I don't want to jinx anything. So, I'll just :-D and hope my enthusiasm comes through. :-D

Fingers and claws crossed over here at this end of the South!

Crazy.

If you are hitting her with carbs and she just goes down, must be pancreas?

However it shouldn't take gallons of karo to overtake a sputtering pancreas + Levemir.

These numbers on a Bayer Contour (or any meter for that matter) make me nervous if you can't bring them up? nailbite_smile

You might consider .2 or .25u instead of .3u - with these extended lows and deep drops, on a bounce no less. One assumes there are rebound hormones in that mix as well, which should buoy the numbers longer.

There's another thing to consider that Laura posted about Cami - when there is a working pancreas giving any insulin will push the numbers higher. I don't know how well that applies when they still need some insulin even if just a tiny assist from it.

Re: 12/20 Autumn +6~31, +9~27

I'm actually considering dropping her back to a fat zero (plunger sitting on top of the zero line) tonight if she remains low, because she is just diving too low and not jumping back up on food like she use to do. If nothing it might stop her swings and then I can ease it back up drop by drop if I need to.

No faster than she is coming up tonight I opted to go with a fat zero...I expect her to high tomorrow but I hope this will help her not swing so much. If nothing else flatten her out some and the slowly go up if we need to.

Is that needle facing up so the dose is the width of the line? Or is that with the plunger just barely "open"? On my syringes the former would be about 1.7u and the later probably .03u to .05u. Right now I am actually drawing to the former (1.7u) and beading off a drop for about .08u. God I wish they made 1/10cc syringes!

1.7u would be a little much for either Cami or Autumn. But a goal for Chip someday. ;-)

I can't believe you are not using precision digital calipers and terumo syringes yet. I believe my doses (any possible dose or percentage) are consistently accurate to half a bead. You wouldn't believe the variation on printed syringes that still look perfect under magnification, until you measure against it on every syringe, every day, every shot.

Needle pointing up, with the plunger just barely over the Zero line, Using the Relion syringes.

Yeah Dale I would love to be able to afford terumos and calipers but with 15 furry mouths to feed, vet, groom etc on one income and that income being a roofer and the middle of winter...not happening, so just got to muddle along the best we can and figure out how to get as consistant as I can with what I have to work with.

Tell me about Sheila, if either of us ever win the lottery we need to invest in a company that will make 1/10cc syringes, and actually we would probably make a fortune because there are so many dogs and cats with diabetes it seems anymore.

Oh remember the bump on her chin? It finally opened tonight and guess what it was? It was a bb, so at some point in her life she was shot in the lower jaw or at least that is where it worked its way out of. Poor baby I thought all the stuff we got out of her mats when we shaved her was bad, now I have to wonder what else her body is going to start rejecting as she has the ability to completely heal.

Better syringes and U40 Levemir would be much easier.

However the Terumo syringes are cheaper than Relions (as long as you get free shipping) much cheaper in fact in the 500 pack from ADW. They really are great syringes.

And the Pittsburgh digital calipers from Harbor Freight are regularly on sale for about $15 or so shipped. These really are more must-have practical tools than luxury items.

Maybe for your next sweetie? Not much use for ones that are broke.

Scary about the BB. :o

You know it would figure she would decide to break now...after Mom left me 30 pens of Lev and I just bought syringes to get her through the winter...lol

That is scary about the BB (shudder). It must have hurt like the dickens when she was shot. I hope it was the only one.

Well, she is only going on the fritz BECAUSE you have 30 pens and hundreds of syringes. It's the same thing with Cami, I think. Someone from FDMB sent me all her syringes 3+ boxes and all her pens 4+ right before Cami's numbers started dropping. And maybe they are getting bad again because I offered the insulin to DCIN just two days ago.

Oh, that +3 looks good. Nice and steady...
