Simon is doing so good! I have a question for you Joyce. I thought that food made the BG number go up and not down? I thought that we are to test before the meal because the food raises the BG. If that is true then why does the food make Simons go down? Thanks

Hi Terri,
When the pancreas is working and supporting food intake, it actually allows the BG to go down. When it is NOT working, it can raise the BG level. At least that is my understanding of it. Since Simon's pancreas is working most of the time, food makes his sugar levels drop. I fount it counter-intuitive as well. Weird but I guess it works cause his numbers don't lie!

Happy Holidays to you and CL and your family! xo

Timing and volume affect the glucose too. If you've nibbler, the glucose may stay somewhat level until the insulin starts in and prompts some eating.

Thanks for the information. I keep learning something new about diabetes all the time!!
Have a safe and happy holiday!!
