Good morning,

This is the first time Mookie has had an AMPS less than 200! Another good sign: I said "no" to him at least 6 times yesterday. Being naughty is a welcomed return to his pre-FD mischievous self. Behind that cute black nose is a furry rascal with tricks up his sleeve.

YAY!!!!! A BLUE amps! That is a good sign!!! I always love to read about kitties that are becoming their old self again, a furry rascal - it is just the best thing.

I gave him Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys Salmon, which is supposed to be 5% carbs. I'm thinking it might be a lot higher.

Yes, it could. That is why we use HC when the numbers are low and we want to bring them up. It will pass. I usually feed something 2-3% carbs.

0% Fish & Shrimp; 2% carbs: Beef & Liver, Chopped Grill, 3% Beef & Chicken, Tender Beef, Turkey & Giblets; 4% Gourmet Chicken; I use fish maybe once a week.

Some of the number inflation may be due to food but unless you fed him alot of the 15%,IMHO, he's bouncing at this point. Carbs also wear off after a few hours so he's probably just not quite
used to those lower numbers yet and Mr. Liver panicked a bit. Don't worry about the food today.....I'm sure there are very few of us who have NOT given too many carbs at one time or another ;-) :-D

Nice that he likes this dose...good things to come!!

oh yeah! when i first started and got scared by a low number i think i gave a whole can of high carb. :-D no worries, mookie will come down - whether it's the high carb food or a bounce. just part of the dance.

and that 101 was a nice number to see - mookie's making great progress!

Thanks, Marje and Julie. It's frustrating to spend this much time trying to regulate him and then to do something that could have been a setback. Thanks for your reassurances. Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to play doctor but really have no idea what I'm doing. :?

I remember when Julie gave a whole can of HC food! :lol: :lol: I also remember I was online late one night and Patty posted a 911 that Champ was in the 70s at +8 or +9 (his first green) and I thought I was going to have to FLY to Las Vegas right then to keep her from giving him karo :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

So Randa...don't worry. It's only one cycle and you are doing great. What goes up must come down ;-)

Even with the bounce in the works, that first blue AMPS is fabulous progress - congrats! Remember that every little bump in the road is a learning experience - never a loss!

The first time Trix saw green, I tested her 21 times in one day!! Yikes...her poor little ears!!! I'm surprised she still lets me near her after that one!

Those early numbers show she's working the juice. Bounce, food, whatever, tomorrow is another day.

Hi guys! It is nice to see a little dip at the +7.

Don't worry about the food today - we've all been there. If it was the FF E.Medlay Salmon Florentine then it is 11% - it is one of the foods I used to use when I needed to get Mannie out of the 40's. If you had fed that for several feedings today when Mookie was low, it can be a combo of the Food, and a bounce startling, and then yes the numbers can shoot up like that. Several feedings of an HC food can result in a stayed higher BG level. AT least that is my experience with Mannie. In any event it will pass. I would make notations of what you fed, and the reaction you got. After a while you will know which foods work best, and will produce the desired boost, without sending them into the stratosphere. Sometimes just a LC food will suffice. For us, Wellness Chicken and Turkey work well - they are 4%

I know we all understand the frustration level. This was just a tiny blip,one of several. For me it has always been important to remember that this is just one or two numbers in a sea of what becomes thousands. It is the overall picture that matters. Mookie really is doing well - that 101 today was great. Eventually Mookie will stop with the dramatic bounces, and level out more. I know on the DR comment - that would be me too! :-D
