I see he is blue. That’s good. Now if he will just not dive so he can stay on the same dose for a while.
Is his stool normal now?
How is your husband? Any better? I hope so.

Yes I hope he doesn’t dive either. I started to do 9.25 instead of 9.5 to see if that would make a difference but decided to try 9.5 again. His BMs are normal now. After thinking about it, he always has upset stomach after I give him the higher carb food and/or syrup when he dives. He just doesn’t tolerate any changes in his diet very well. He is really picky and won’t eat a variety of things so the MC I have is the only one he will eat. He only likes pates and can’t really tolerate gravy. It’s really hard to find higher carb food suited for him so I mainly mix syrup or honey with his regular food. That still upsets his tummy for a couple of days, then he goes back to normal. So I really hope he doesn’t dive too low again right now. Hey I’m even happy if he will stay in the blues.

Husband doing better. I’m trying to stay well and not catch it from him right here before Christmas so he’s staying in a little guest type house we have in the back yard. I just take his meals out to him while wearing a mask. So far it’s working and I’m still negative based on a home test.

Spoke too soon on the diarrhea. He had it again this evening. I went ahead and gave him some of the Pro-pectalin that the vet gave me. I’m not sure if that will affect his blood sugar. Someone said it contains powdered sugar in it. I think I may have given him too much of it though. The vet said 3cc but I’ve read that cats get only 1 cc. She also of course knows he diabetic. Do you know if that will hurt him @FrostD or @Wendy&Neko I’ve ordered the probiotics for him.

I saw someone mention the sugar could.impact it but I'm not totally sure. I guess the tests will tell you!

I would guess worst case he may get a little constipated? But she must have said 3cc for a reason?

Here are the ingredients:
Pro-Pectalin Gel

  • ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Kaolin, Pectin, Enterococcus faecium
  • INACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Artificial Flavors, Chicken Flavor, Powdered Sugar, Silicon Dioxide, Soybean Oil

I have used this in my cats many times for diarrhea. It takes a lot to work. I would not give it to my diabetic cat because of the powdered sugar. Unless I had nothing else.

I know most of these gels contain sucrose or some form of sugar. ☹️ You could still try the greek yogurt or Bulgarian yogurt that I mentioned. They are sour because the bacteria have eaten up so much of the milk sugars (lactose) that upset kitties’ stomachs. No real sugar left on there to speak of.

I don’t know…maybe it’s because he’s 18 pounds. I hope he doesn’t get constipated. I guess so far it didn’t affect his BG at all.
