even Beans who have been doing the FD dance for 3 years can make newbie errors. ohmygod_smile

Despite all of her grumbling and growling, Jazzy is actually a very easy cat to treat. Our feeding/shooting routine is that we go into the dining room, she picks a spot on the floor and lays down for her test, I poke and give treats, and usually she lays back down and waits while I go prepare her shot. I give the shot then prepare their food.

Last night she didn't want her shot. After her testing treat, she went under the dining table so I couldn't reach her to shoot. No problem, I set the syringe on the counter near her feeding spot, thinking I would give the shot once she had her head buried in her food. Good idea, except that when I tested this morning she was at 375. What?!? Then I looked over and saw a full syringe still sitting on the counter. ohmygod_smile Not only that, this is the second time in 10 days I have done that!!!

So if you feel stupid sometimes, know that you are not alone. You would think that after 3 years I would have the routine down, but things just don't always work that way. Jazzy will be fine, and if you make mistakes your cat will be fine too.

Lucy, she's doing great too. With all the kitties coming back on the juice lately, I have been afraid to test. Her last test a couple of weeks ago was in the 70's. Given the fact that she is literally attempting to climb the walls right now, I think she is feeling good.

We're going to have an adventure over the next few days, an adventure of which the kitties will not approve. My parents are moving to be near me. Tonight they will be arriving with their two cats and two finches, to stay for a few days until the movers come. Their cats will be sequestered in one guest room (which is normally my civvie Mickey's room, he loves it in there) and the birds will be closed in the other guest room. This should be fun (not!). It will be great to have my folks nearby again, but I have to question the wisdom of moving into a brand new house two days before Christmas...

Libby...thanks for sharing your mistake story.....I feels lots better now!!!!!

Wow, sounds like your home will be a zoo for a few days. Literally. Start pouring those Feliway cocktails for the kitties, eh?

Morning Libby and makes me feel better too with sleeping last night when I was supposed to be testing Beans are only human after all cat_pet_icon :YMHUG:

Oh Boy, you are going to have a FUN Christmas! I assume your kitties will have the honor of hosting the festivities on the big day too!

Thanks for the encouragement we all need it! And need to remember we are only beans!

 Well, let's just tar and feather you for making that mistake. Yeah, let's give you noodles too!
((((Libby))))
Thank you for sharing that with us. :YMHUG:
Nice to know that we are not alone in our mistakes!

Wishing you all a happy time when you parents and their entourage arrive. It sounds a little like the 12 days of Christmas...and a partridge in a pear tree! 2 finches ~~yum...and two kitties too! It is going to be so much fun....
Door number one....or door number two???
I would say that this is not the ideal time to move, but hey, it will be nice that they are so close now!
Wishing them well in their new home!!
Hope you have a great time....it will be memorable anyway!

You - a bean error??? omg -  It is nice to know that we are all human, all make mistakes and YES - our kitties will be fine. Thanks for sharing! there are some mornings and evenings when the tiredness, the distractions win, and I really have to backtrack and ask: did I really do that?

oh wow on the upcoming menagerie. so nice that your folks will be nearby, but wow - at xmas: a move? what excitement! Good luck with the temp arrangements - maybe they will all view it as a grand adventure.

Have a great day! and yes, i would venture to guess that Lucy is just fine...

Good morning, Libby.. Jazzy & Lucy too :YMHUG:
Nice to know we all make errors, I sure screw up enough...
Wow! Ok.. as you said everyone will be ok & we just move on... she didn't want her shot..so you were being a nice bean & not giving it ohmygod_smile
That is awesome that your parents will be moving closer, that is just wonderful.. thankfully the kitties don't know yet.. this would just mess up their Sunday
Have a great day & thanks again for all your help last night and always!

Libby...thanks for sharing that....it takes a wise person who is also humble to be able to admit mistakes to a whole group of people so the other
people will learn that we are, in fact, human, and we are all going to make mistakes with our sugarbabies.

That is a huge change and right before Christmas, too. I hope Jazzy and Lucy are not phased by the disturbances although sounds like Lucy
might want at those birdies. Glad she is doing so well!!! Thanks for your help last night.

I guess that's why the word, "Oops" is part of our vocabulary!

I hope all the creatures - two and 4-legged - weather the next few days with limited fur and feather ruffling. Every thought of giving your parents the Xmas gift of a crew to come in and help them put everything away?

All good points everyone but isn't it amazing what lengths some people will go to, to make some of us (like who over imbibed, fell asleep and missed PM checks) feel better about ourselves!!
This is also of course, a way better mistake to have made, than the other way around!! So as mistakes go, it's no worse than a fur shot, right?

Thanks for sharing!

There is always a way to look at something in a positive light, and in this case, I would say you sure don't have to worry about Jazzy's shed being too full!
It happens, but is easily fixed in time.

Good luck with the house guests; I am sure it will be an adventure for everyone!

oops. Perhaps your mind was elsewhere. Great news about your parents. Will be a little challenging for a few days. Glad it is them moving before Christmas and not me. Have a great day, enjoy your NOODLES (do you prefer any special flavor?).

Yep, I did that once, too, and without the excuse that Muffin didn't want her shot. I just set it down and forgot about it! Thanks for sharing. I hope you all get thru the move without TOO much excitement! Love seeing a condo from you Libby! Love hearing Lucy is feeling so well too.

I would like my noodles with a nice masala sauce, please.

I think the thing I hate most about this is that between these two "fur shots" I have wasted 22 units of insulin!

With some help from our litta fren (Humulin R), Jazzy is back in yellow at +4.

Ms Libby...i sees that only t'ing missin from u guest list is 2 tortie civies wit...um..."irrepressibly exuberant purrsonalities" i fix dat fur u?? shipping paid by me!
binks

Great story, Libby! One for the books, or should we say two for the books! Reminds me of the time I set down the filled syringe to do something and hadn't pushed out the extra insulin I always draw up. Fortunately (for Stu) I remembered just in the nick of time!!

Christmastime at your house sounds challenging. But it's nice that you can be with your parents. Enjoy the holiday and get through it with minimal disruption to your fur family.

Happy Solstice, too!

p.s. I thought I'd send you this link to the WKCR Bach Festival. You can listen online. Nothing but Bach starting tomorrow morning and going until New Year's Day. No commercials. Wonderful student announcers (this is the Columbia University Station) who have difficulty pronouncing the names of the cantatas, but who are very earnest. http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/wkcr/

We are human beans after all and we make mistakes. It takes a special bean to admit it so others can learn. :-D I'm glad your parents are moving close to you. I hope the transition, especially at your house, will be smooth and uneventful. We don't want to hear about any feathers flying.

I just got a call that somebody needs noodles......I will give you a warning this time but the next time I may have to write a citation.

Better not let Jojo Hear about this one
Noodles havent flown in LL in a long time!! Nice to see them again, sorry they are flying at you Libby
Wish I had a dollar for all the little mistakes I made, I could get $12.00 a year= $36.00 if I made one mistake a month!
H*ll that's a whole plate of Noodles!!!!--All is well now, that's great-Sending Many Hugs and wishes for
A Peaceful Holiday adventure!!

Thank you Libby for this condo ;-)
