What Libby had to say about the evening Plus 1 readings
Libby said: you're kidding, right? Retest to see if the test was good? Only Willow bounces THAT fast.

Looks like Attie may have surfed high blues and low yellows throughout the night. Again, considering where we've been for bounces like last nights...I'll take it!!!

Some playing, purring, and presents this morning, nice appetites, cold today 15F...

Haven't seen Gary in a few days, but it is not unusual for him to disappear for bits of time. Heck he was gone all summer long until the first snowfall?

It seems I've stopped the major draft in the house!!!! flip_cat I've had to turn the thermostat DOWN several times last night and once so far this morning...The house is feeling like an oven!!! It is currently only set at 62F!!! This is not the coldest time of the year for us...Jan-Feb are. And those temps will be below 0 F without the windchill. We are running 8 degrees below normal for December. Long term winter benefit...the Lake Effect Snow Machine will get turned off earlier and we'll hopefully have less snow in Jan. and Feb.

Hmmm...looks like a trip to Walmart is in order for TODAY...ugh...75 strips used since I bought the box of 100...no way I wasted 25 on bad readings....

This is the second time this has happened, it seems like the box is running short?

Re: 12/19 Atlas Amps 221, +5 279

Hmmm....almost the same plus 5 reading as yesterday. Wonder if we're heading into a funky repeat ....>? Plus just checked the feeder it looks like he didn't want his +3 feeding? Ate his +4 though. I moved the +3 feeding over to the +6, which wasn't scheduled, we'll see if he wants it and that was the feeding he didn't get yesterday. And then we can tuck some bunny under his pillow for him to find later...

Are you confused, yet? LOL...I am.

Re: 12/19 Atlas Amps 221, +5 279

goodness, Attie! never a dull moment from you!

i'm confused, Beth...but that's the norm for me! nice on the warm house...i hate the cold!

binks now will expect a bunny under his pillow...good luck, buddy!

Re: 12/19 Atlas Amps 221, +5 279

Beth - forgive me. I'm fairly new and keeping condo's straight, especially in the beginning wasn't an easy thing. Can you fill me in on who Gary is?

Got me thinking maybe I should count our test strips. I just had to buy a new box of 100 today also. They seem to go so quickly.

Hope it warms up a bit for you guys in Ohio. I'm starting to not like this white stuff earlier than normal.

LOL...that's ok. Gary is a semi-feral cat. Last winter he holed up in the neighbor's garage and I named him Gary the Garage Cat. The neighbor used to have a large dog that would shelter in the garage, so the Garage in general isn't too bad.

But when the snow got deep and the piles high Gary seemed lost and confused, so I converted an old dog house into the Cat Lodge. Inside is a bunch of fresh straw and on really cold nights I add a Grabber Hot Sock(s) to it. Heat, no electric, non-combustible and last for seven hours or longer. The socks get up to a nice temperature. Gary pulls them into the center of the nest he builds every night from the loose straw bedding. How good are these Grabber things...our troops use them for hands, feet, and sleeping bags.

Gary won't come in the house or even near enough to snag him. Plus he is a TomCat.

Re: 12/19 Atlas Amps 221, +5 279, +11 437!

OOOOO>>>>>> OUch!

Ok, not completely sure this is from a bounce for yesterday. Our Lantus pen is down to the last itsy bitsy and 35 days old...

Might be a combo of the two...

Question: Volunteer from the Shelter stopped by with a vial of insulin a while back. I had just opened the pen the week before. Already opened, but the donor claimed they had only drawn two injections off it. Rather than open a new pen....would the vial still be OK to use? I've seen posts recently claiming the vial can last longer than the 28 days if refrigerated. And this one hasn't been used, used, used? I just looked at the vial and it is very, very pretty and crystal clear.

Re: 12/19 Atlas Amps 221, +5 279, +11 437! vial longevity?

I'm wondering about the same thing because I have already used my vial of lantus over 28 days. People that I have talked to that are diabetic say they keep their insulin longer than it says, so I don't know why we can't keep it for longer if it looks crystal clear. Hope you get some answers to this question.

Re: 12/19 Atlas Amps 221, +5 279, +11 437! vial longevity?

Pen or vial can have a life of longer than 28 days. I've noticed that some people start getting weird numbers when they are down to the dregs of their container, though.

Re: 12/19 Atlas Amps 221, +5 279, +11 437! vial longevity?

Well I just double checked the sticky at the top of the forum regarding storage and handling. It appears the vials can last up to 6 months if handled properly.

So I'll shoot tonight with the donated vial and we'll see...

Thanks Sienne! The pen we were using was down to the bottom ....so that's where I think part of the 437 came from.

Re: 12/19 Atlas Amps 221, +5 279, +11 437

Beth --

Lantus can last that long and members of the German forum seem to be able to get their Lantus to last. There aren't very many people here who get 6 months from a vial. Just be attentive to Atlas' numbers and if they get wonky after a while, don't forget it may be the insulin. FWIW, I swap out pens after 28 days -- 30 max.

Well, for a kitty at 375 he is quite frisky!!!

Attie and MudCat were engaged in a game of chase that I thought would bring down the Christmas Tree!!!!! But wiggling, carpet flying, tree rattling, cube sliding .... :o

It was play, not fighting or territorial...it was funny because Attie doesn't "jump" up unless it is a chair, Muddy can be like a little imp and leap to great heights to gaze down on him. Attie 14lbs of orange fur running and Muddy at 6.5lbs tail-up leaping out of his claws. At first I thought he might be a little too rough, but when Muddy charged him...well then I knew for sure it was play. She charged him and leapt right over him.
