Well, well, well, Zener surfed the greens all night. We were just saying yesterday that he hadn't seen green at this dose since right after the reduction. Either we're prescient or he's jerking our chain.  Appy wasn't great, he ate enough but I had to chase him around with the bowl. He's started getting up from eating to get a drink of water, sometimes 2 or 3 times. Seems a little odd to me...

Healing energy and mega poo vines to Moonie. C'mon, Moonie, we all want to celebrate. Healing energy to Noni and Kibby too. Happy Tuesday LL.

Re: 12/18 Zener AMPS 82

Oh boy! Look at that green. Zener deserves a green smiley for that.   Sorry appy still isn't great. I hope he gets over that quick and eats like a champ all day for you. Have a wonderful day Anne & Liz!!

Re: 12/18 Zener AMPS 82

Way to go, Zener, with the nice  I wonder where he will go with the slide today. Sending appy vines for Zener. Sometimes I do the "follow the cat" with the bowl, too! Have a great day.

Way to hang 20 Z-man!

 I think we've all been the food bowl slaves of our kitties. Tess gets quite annoyed w/ us sometimes!

Re: 12/18 Zener AMPS 82;+1 93;+2.5 75

Thanks, Sienne! Z & T might need one of those.

We don't always have to chase Zener around with the bowl.

ETA
We decided to take him to the vet and make sure it's not pancreatitis or something other than cramps causing his abdominal pain. He hasn't seemed to get much better in the past 5 days when this started and it's taking more effort to get him to eat. So, we have an appointment at 1pm today. Full report to follow.

Sending mega good vetty vines your way. Good thing to get this sorted out before offices start doing short hours or closing for holidays. I'll see if Neko can send some of her appy your way too.

Beautiful   today! I love the picture of breakfast in bed.

Thanks to all for sending appy vines and vetty vines. We are home and all is okay. His anal sacs were full again (just a month ago, he had them expressed) and otherwise things were unremarkable on exam. So, the good news is our vet was not worried about serious infection of any sort as his temperature was normal, his BG values have been good, ketones negative, he is peeing and pooping and well hydrated and his weight is stable. She found some tightness and tenderness around his stomach and suspects it is tummy cramping and pain due to his neurological effects from FD.

He has had bouts of this in the past and we already have him on Zantac, ondansetron and cerenia. Even if it is a flare of pancreatitis, we have appy stimulant and the anti-nausea meds to treat, and she prescribed some bupe for us, so she didn't feel like it was necessary to do the test as it is quite expensive. And, we've had it done several times before when he had similar symptoms and it has been negative. And his BG values have been so good lately. So for now, we treat with the meds we have, bupe if is in pain and cypro if he won't eat.

We were a little reluctant to take him, but after 5 days of feeling punk, we were worried he might get worse over the holidays. She reassured us if in doubt to bring him in to the vet, and not to hesitate especially around approaching holiday time. She also told us she has a couple of patients with diabetic dogs and is trying to get them to chart things like we do and to find a similar support group for dogs. She also said diabetes is so dynamic and changes all the time that it is impossible for a vet to take care of all a diabetic pet's needs without owners on board AND the expert help of a support group like FDMB. :-D

He seems more comfortable since coming home and is sitting outside on his porch watching the birds - lots of frenetic bird activity as the next storm approches and light snow has just started. Another 6-10" in our forecast by tomorrow morning, so kitty path shoveling may be in order tomorrow!

It sure doesn't look like Zener was stressed at the vet. And your vet certainly has it right. Now, is your vet would just go to conferences and share her opinion with other vets!

We so agree Sienne, and feel lucky to have found her in our small town! Liz had her iPad with Zener's SS on it and she took a look at the last few weeks and used that pattern to explain to us that spending the money on the pancreatitis test was not necessary. Next time we are there, we will encourage her to share her opinions at conferences! She regularly shares the FMDB website with patients.

Re: 12/18 Zener PMPS 190 vet report

I'm glad everything went well at the vet and Zener got a good report. I hope he starts feeling better soon.

Re: 12/18 Zener PMPS 190 vet report

Zener has had such beautiful numbers! Good going Zener. Now you just have to eat a little more for your moms.

It's good that you went to the vet. Now you won't have to spend the holidays worrying and regretting not doing it. I'm glad he got a pretty clean bill of health. I wonder if that FD neurological stomach is what Racci's problem is too? She's been doing the same thing lately when it comes to eating.

I hope Zener feels better and starts eating well again.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Re: 12/18 Zener PMPS 190;+2 121 vet report

Glad to hear that the vet report came back all good! I'm thinking that Shasta & Zener are on the same anal sac schedule. I caught Shasta scooting on the floor yesterday morning. Expressed, but didn't get much out. Don't know if I can get in to see my vet before we leave for the Panhandle. hmmm. I do love the pic of the kitties eating in bed! so cute! Good night & sweet dreams!

Re: 12/18 Zener PMPS 190;+2 121;+3 61 vet report

Wow...great vet! We're glad to hear you got him in and got him checked. Nice greens for him today and we will send many wishes for a good appy and feeling better soon. I'm sure his bum is sore....that anal sac expression isn't comfortable.....not that Id know firsthand   but I have seen them do it on unhappy cats.

Re: 12/18 Zener PMPS 190;+2 121;+3 61 vet report

 What happened to our vetty visit spike? +3 61  ohmygod_smile

@carla - thanks for the feel better wishes! :YMHUG:

@Melanie & Racci - thanks for that support, you are so right. We can relax a little now and not feel like there is something else going on. I don't know how common tummy neurological problems are in cats with FD, but it's quite common in humans to also have GI issues. Thanks for the good appy wishes, we can always use those!

@Amy - he definitely feels better tonight, now whether it's his anal glands or his tummy palpation by the vet with magic fingers, we just don't know.

@Roni & Poo Poo Moonie - he is feeling better and eating better tonight. Whenever we have taken him to this vet in the past with these same sorts of symptoms, by the time she finishes her palpation and abdominal exam, he starts feeling better. We are very happy with our vet, and she feels like she has learned from us and everyone here too. We are so glad to read that Moonie "got her poo on", paws crossed that breaks the dam.

@Deborah & Shasta - gosh, it would be great if I could learn to express Zener's anal sacs, you are amazing! We've been on an every two month schedule, but since we were there, Liz thought "might as well" and the little buggers were full again. Poor guy, it usually makes him feel a little punk, so that may have been contributing to what was going on too. Safe travels to the panhandle, hope the weather is okay for you. :thumbup

@Marje - thanks for the support on us taking the big guy to the vetty. We were just worried it might be something different since his appy has been so great lately and with the holidays coming up, it's not the time for an emergency, like we can control these things.

Looks like we will be testing again in another hour. So much for the post-vet spike in BG numbers! ~O) ~O)

Re: 12/18 Zener PMPS 190;+2 121;+3 61 vet report

Glad to know of Zener's clean vetty report. And that green after vet visit is just great! Surf Zener, night is young!

Re: 12/18 Zener PMPS 190;+2 121;+3 61;+4.5 40 vet report

Oops, fell asleep watching tv waiting for the next test, so 30 minutes late in testing and  40 @+4.5  Looks like another PJ party. ~O) ~O)

@Helen - Zener didn't listen to you yet about the surfing. So, PJ party is on.

This is the second value below 50 for Zener, and we can be sure this is not shed, so a shave for tomorrow. We will be back to 0.75u for the 2nd time, his lowest dose yet.
