Good Morning ALL and Happy Caturday!

WCR: not sure if his BG is reflected in the fact that he snacked on FORBIDDEN food last night (see last post from yesterday) viewtopic.php?f=9&t=32281
took a pic on how sad he looks too (on last post from last night also)....he is sooo totally hating the injections...i let him eat and when i think he's had enough so hold him then i proceed with the injection cause lately as soon as i give the shot he stops eating altogether and goes into hiding.... :sad:

does anyone experience that with their kitty? :?: :?:

he hid most of the night in his tent...i got up at +10 110
now AMPS 115 nibbled a lil now gone under the bed :sad:

we shall see what happens today with his BG.....Rocket and Comet are heading off to go see Santa (yay!!!) :-D :-D Rocket does not go in a cage in the car...he takes over the entire back seat (he thinks he is a dog!)

weather report: current temp 10F light snow but feels like -2F....brrrrr

will visit condos shortly....time for his med (it is +0.5)...brb

No I have not had hiding issues with Do Lou since his early days of me trying to hometest and he running from me he does not do it anymore so hope things improve for you in the hiding department Claudia I think none of us like to see our cats do this I know I hated it very much when DL did it. Nice amps for Rocket :razz:

Well Claudia....Raja hates being back from the Falls it seems too. But with her, she eats really fast, leaving some of her food behind as she runs for cover. She knows that I will be coming with the syringe any minute, so she hides.
And she doesn't hide very well, I might add. She has gone under the tree lately.
Once I find her, drag her to the testing towel and shoot her, she goes back and finishes her meal.

She does this morning AND night. Eats a bite then runs and hides. She tolerates the ear pricks but seems to know that the insulin is something hes didn't have daily for 8 full months. She lies with her front legs under her....which causes her wings to be very prominent on her back. Impossible to get any skin to shoot when she is in that position. :lol: I have to pull her front legs out so she is lying flat. She still tightens up her back so it's very hard to get a skin tent going. I don't know how she has control over the skin on her back, but believe me, she DOES! It is actually tight when I try to shoot her!

I have a captain's platform under my mattress. There are drawers and there is no way any kitties can go under my bed anymore. The extra storage is nice, but I will admit to you that I got it because of the cats. It solved that problem for me because I know that the two of them would be under my bed all the time if I didn't have that platform! :mrgreen:
If I didn't have that, I would probably consider taking away the bed frame and putting the box spring right on the darn floor! It can be SO frustrating, right?

So, when I look at Rocket's SS and then I look at Raja's, I see that their numbers are almost the same. They know that they are in the normal range. THEY know that they are feeling great. So, WHY are the foolish women still giving them shots? It makes no sense to them.
If there ever comes a day when Raja doesn't need the shots anymore, I know that SHE will think that she finally won the fight against me. :lol: She drives me crazy...seriously she does! You would think I was giving her some poison via syringe the way she acts. I don't know what you can do Claudia....but you have my sympathy!

thanks Pat and Lisa....yes it is frustrating as this is something new (as of this week)

+0.5 since he was hiding under the bed i decided to give him his fluids so when he heard the water running in the bathroom sink for a while (basically filling the sink to warm up the bag of fluids) he knows the drill...so he came out from hiding under the bed and i gave him his meds and while he waiting for his fluids i gave him some chicken dust....mission accomplished! :-D

+1 no testing as he was actually sleeping under my arm in bed....
+2 59.4 i got out of bed and brought breffis to him....he ate it all

few more minutes and it's +3 (he ate at +2.75 3rd breffis)

((((Claudia)))) I hope Rocket will be back to himself soon. It's hard when they don't want to cooperate. It does look like it could be an active cycle. Take some food with you if you're taking him out.

the +2 and +3 were not numbers i was expecting....he dove at +2 last night too...from a much higher pmps...he hadn't done this in a few cycles....he doesn't eat anything while we are out....but i will wait while he is higher to head out....and will feed him just before we go....

i had to fetch him from under the bed to test the +3 :sad: :sad:

Morning Claudia :-D Bummer on the hiding - so sorry and I hope he outgrows this soon. Mannie has never been a hider - he comes when he hears me get the test stuff ready, willingly lets me do my thing. So Rocket - what's up huh?

have a safe outing today - sounds cold, snowy pretty. Nice that Rocket gets the back seat - too fun. have a good time!

Hey Rocket dude.....stop that playin round wif the juice and then not eatin yur fud. I hate the shot too....Man, I'll just sit at my fud dish and stare cuz soon as I starts eatin the bean is gonna nail me with the juice. I stare, she waits, I stare and she continues to wait...Dang Bean.... But I does feel so much better...And really wanna get off the juice soon. So you eats yur fud, get yur shot, get poked and get those numbers down bud.

They just drive us nuts on purpose, right? Sometimes I wonder what they are thinking.

now +5 82.8.....off to see Santa!!! i'm so happy Rocket gets to have another picture....i celebrate having him yet another Christmas....same goes for Comet too ;-)

You are actually going out when it's that cold? :lol: :lol: :lol: And taking the kitties to see Santa? I can't even imagine what mine would do...Santa banana!!! Yuck they would say.

Rocket and Comet on the way back from seeing Santa....the coat he is wearing was made by my mother-in-law...gues she figured since she can't knit for children she might as well make stuff for them :lol: :lol:

relaxing after seeing Santa...which his brother got so nervous (yeah go figure...the dog getting nervous!) and in turn made him nervous seeing Santa....they did not cooperate this time! last year went much more smooth..

Rocket on my lap and hanging on for dear life as the roads were a bit bumpy with all the snow..shhhh...not a word DH drove...as he is not supposed to ;-) but Rocket travels better when i'm not the driver :smile:

let's see if he decides to stay out and not hide....maybe the outing will do him good! :lol:

soon after getting home he ate lots at +7...

hey guys...went to see some dude wearing red...he kept on saying "ho ho ho"...what's up with that?...they made me sit on his lap and some crazy lady had some heavy black thing that made a flash...think it's called a camera...she must be the photographer....and another crazy lady standing behind her jumping up and down trying to get our attention....they were all crazy...me and my brother didn't wanna be there...they went all crazy when they saw me...not so much when they saw my brother....probably cause i'm the smart one and handsomest of the two! now i'm taking a nappus...i'm really tired! will check with youz later!

it is to be expected the pmps as he had an eventful day!

he hid under the bed for his afternoon nap....we went out for a couple of hrs after his +7.5

he ate at +10.75

hopefully he won't go hide tonight....

ok here is what happened

+0.5 fed as he only nibbled at pmps
+1.25 i fed again...
+1.75 he got up and went straight to his dish and i figured i would test him at +2 being that he was high at pmps
+2 50!!!!!!
i tried to get on the forum but couldn't and since i have Keri's mobile for texting (Keri and Mowgli) i freaked out and asked for HELP!!!!

tested 20 mins later +2.4 50....fed a lil bit
+2.75 52....no food in case he was getting full
+3 54....was waiting to see if he wanted to eat....but i was using my msn with Keri when he got up and asked for food...gave lil bit...then he asked for more....so since pmps he's almost done (not quite) a can of FF oceanfish....then he got up and went under the bed....

i will test at +3.5

i was going to test him at +4.5 which was to be in 5 mins
but STRANGELY enough...he got up and asked for food....so gave him a lil bit of the same can...then he ate it all and asked for more...so can now is almost gone except maybe a tsp.....

has anyone experience this type of hunger when they go low? is this normal? by him asking to be fed...does it mean he is going low again? i will test him in 15...so it will be +4.75

Claudia...great job getting him up from the 50s and w/out LL!! Thank God for Keri and that you had her info. I highly recommend you sign up for yuku. I was trying to get info on a dosecrease and Jill and Libby found me there at a critical moment.

Great photos; I didn't mean too cold for the cats...I meant too cold for ME :lol: :lol:

YOu did great..very impressive!!! Even if you know what to do, it's a little daunting to not have LL buds there for support. Hope he will be better and eat well for you...and not be under the bed.

Hunger is a symptom of low Blood Sugar.. it is good that Rocket will get up & feed himself - excellent data to have! Yes, completely normal.. but not every cat gets up to feed when low.

I find it comforting to know that a cat will feed his own lows. It means you can feel more comfortable going out sometimes, because you know he can recognize his lows and take care of them with his own low carb food. Some cats don't seem to feel themselves going low.

he got up the first time which i waited 15 mins to test at +2....but this next time around +4.5 he got up but didn't walk to his dish....we are both in the bedroom as i pulled him from under the bed to test him and to keep an eye on him....but he stayed in the room....had i not been here to give him the food...i don't know if he would have gotten up to walk to his dish....

You did great tonight! I don't think you give yourself enough credit for how well you manage Rocket's numbers.

There is also a Lantus Land group on FB. It's another alternative if you need help -- you can use the chat function to get real time help if it's needed.

Gabby's the same way. She'll come with me to the kitchen or she'll eat if the food's in front of her. Otherwise, I think she would be sound asleep.

with his last #, should i continue testing and worry he will go low? or would i assume that the enough (actually plenty) food he ate will be ok to tie him over? do i stay up all night? can i go to bed?
