The Day From Hell Condo

Another late condo. I was gone most of the day, in my rental car. Cinco was kind enough to give me a permission slip to go. I had lunch with the friend that hosts our wine tasting group every year for Passport weekend, then delivered candy to our regular vet in Sac. After that I visited my cousin's BBQ place, where they were cleaning up after a very busy morning. They got a call to cater lunch for a film crew at Beale AF base - Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are there making a movie about Gary Powers and the U2 incident! Quite a feather in their cap. I left candy and came away with a rack of ribs, fresh off the grill! Mmmm! Dinner was easy - made herb roasted potatoes, tossed a salad and heated those ribs. Yum!

So Minka seems to be none the worse for her chemo yesterday - she ate her breakfast and her dinner with just a little prompting. Sasha was only slightly less eager, and Harvey hoovered his food at both meals! I think it's a little karmic payback for my crappy day yesterday. The dealership called and said a couple of "coolant elbows" had "popped" off - they connect the intake to the alternator to keep it cool. At least, that's as much as I understood. The car should be ready sometime tomorrow.

Thanks to all who visited us last night.

P.s. how many batches of candy have you made??

Ella, I made six trays (cookie sheets) each of white almond bark, white cashew bark, milk chocolate almond bark, milk chocolate cashew bark, dark chocolate almond bark and dark chocolate cashew bark (each batch fills two trays, so three batches of each). I made two batches (two large cookie sheets each) of English toffee, three batches of Rocky Road, 112 milk chocolate turtles, 140 dark chocolate turtles, about 130 bourbon balls and two batches of peppermint bark (about 7 trays).

Did they say why they would evaluate as to whether to give another round of chemo? It is my understanding that you don't stop but go to every other week after induction. Maybe they will decide which drugs to use .

Elise, they have to check her kidneys and make sure they are strong enough to withstand the next round, as well as doing blood work, etc, to make sure her bone marrow has not been damaged. The plan is to proceed with another round after a two week break, if all tests indicate it is safe to do so. For her fourth round this coming week, they will recheck her kidney values, CBC and urine specific gravity to determine whether she can handle doxorubicin or if they need to give her another round of cyclophosphamide instead.

Amy, I'm sorry you couldn't see the cards. Here are two of the photos I used:

I'll have to put the other two in a separate post, since two is the limit.

Now I have to get to work digging out the kitchen, and then write our Christmas letter, print the cards, etc. Tomorrow will be organize and pack day. I'm definitely going to need a vacation after all this!

Those pictures are so cute. That is a lot of cookies. I can't believe you found the time to make them. I'm glad the kitties ate for you. I hope Minka continues to do well.

Oh, I just knew the cuteness would be overhwelming :-D :-D :-D !!! You can see their personalities shining through.

I cannot believe how much candy you made! I so wish I had more time to do that sort of thing...I love holiday food fun. But, on the other hand, we don't have a lot of people to share it with - so for OUR sake, it's a good thing I don't have the time. I'm still hoping to make some candy cane bark, though.

I hope you had a great evening, Tricia!

Minka and Sasha are gorgeous!! I missed this condo. I hope you have a wonderful vacation and Merry Xmas!

Love the pics - they are all fantabulous! Sounds like you're a very busy bee for the holidays. Somehow, that doesn't seem any different from the rest of the year for you  Please send candy, kthx.

Thanks for stopping by, Carla, Amy, Elise and Tara.

Cinco was at 306 on Saturday morning, and 247 at +2.5. I don't know where those pinks are coming from. I guess the problem wasn't old insulin after all. We took the vial to Dawn's, since the pens didn't seem to make a difference. That way the pen doesn't get all the jossling from being transported, etc. I will probably call Dawn tomorrow to see how the kitties are doing. I just talked to Kathy, at my house, and she said Harvey didn't eat any of the moist food I left in Otto. She was getting ready to feed him, and he seemed pretty anxious to be fed. Hopefully he'll eat the first kind she offers.

We had a very long day getting here - both our flights were delayed and we didn't make it to my sister's until 2:00 am Ohio time. We were pretty exhausted. Still am. I'm about to head up to bed. I'll try to do some visiting tomorrow. I hope everyone is doing well.

Sounds like an exhausting trip already!

YUCK on the stinky pinkies...maybe stress related?

You know...I just had a thought...with a diabetic cat in the house, you might want to forget the SWEET pictures!!

Those are really adorable!

I hope you are having a great time. Wonderful pix, I can attest that Sasha is the ultimate of adoreable in outfit, she was modeling it when I visited.
