Happy Caturday LL! Zener is doing fine this morning. It's a YELLOW sunrise! His appetite was pretty good. He did his business outside and came it with a little on his hind legs (he has trouble balancing and pooping at the same time). So I helped him clean up which he didn't appreciate very much. :YMSIGH: Now he's BTB with Anne. Let's see what this cycle brings. Thinking of Garland, Charlotte and Violet, Tawny and Desi, Shanga and Pallid, Marje and DM, Jill and DH, and other kitties and beans who are ailing. Saying goodbye to Tom and thinking of Sonia in her sadness.

Oh what a HAPPY HAPPY cat we have here this morning! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! When I gave him some of the EVO last night after it arrived, he was absolutely in HEAVEN! He had his eyes closed and working like a little steam shovel just knowing I was going to take it away from him any second. After eating a bit, he looked up at me with the most precious look on his face - OH THANK YOU! He got a bit more this morning sprinkled on his Fancy Feast chicken from Sandy Claws too! Oh, this is such a joy - a precious blessed joy. I did get a video but don't have software loaded on this computer yet...

THANK YOU AGAIN! Such a beautiful happy heart here this morning,

BIG HUGS!!

Anne taking over for Liz. Zener is looking very yellow this morning. We like that better than pink!

We'll be giving Zener his AB in about 30 minutes post pepcid and see if he will eat a little food with the clavamox. This is his 4th day of 7 for the ABs. He was lying on his back and stretching & purring when getting some petting in the bed this morning, that's very nice to see! cat_pet_icon

We're glad to read that Sandy Claws, or one of his elves (they must be mice elves ;-) ) is already at work spreading good cheer!

Re: 12/17 Zener AMPS 321;+1.5 304;+3 314 A Trak

Flat is definitely better than up! Glad to hear Zener is a happy, purry furry. Have a great day Anne and Liz!

@Jaq - you are so right - flat is definitely better than up! Thanks for putting this cycle in perspective! And he is flat in the high yellows, dabbling in pink.

Zener is having an okay day, seems to be feeling better despite the ABs. Have I written how glad we will be when we finish the clavamox? :-D

We're off to a friend's daughter's baby shower today. So Zener and Tillie will be on their own at home this afternoon. We hope they don't get online and go all crazy with their holiday shopping!

Re: 12/17 Zener AMPS 321;+1.5 304;+3 314;+6 330 A Trak

Sounds like Zener is having a good day (except for the morning cleanup!) Over halfway done with ABs, yay!

Re: 12/17 Zener AMPS 321;+1.5 304;+3 314;+6 330 A Trak

Isn't that typical -- you clean them up, and they just do not seem to appreciate the gift! Injured pride, I guess.

Glad the numbers have improved and the appetite is good. Zener is feeling better!

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477 Ugh A Trak

Zener, where did that come from. Send it back! You had such a pleasantly yellow day, then this ugly red!

So much for flat and yellow. Zener really zoomed up by his PMPS to those numbers that cannot be named. Is this part of what happens post-dental? Definitely peeing and drinking more.

@Melissa & Bailey - you can write that again, over halfway done with ABs!

@Kathy - Zener takes lots of pride in how well he cleans himself with his CH. He has a very interesting way of balancing with his legs and tail. Appy is slowly on the upswing and the numbers were improving until tonight.

@Linda - yes, where did this yucky number come from, quite the zoom! We have paws crossed this doesn't last long.

Where are those darn patience pants? Do we need to be thinking about a dosecrease or stay the course until the end of the ABs and let that clear his system?

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477 Ugh A Trak

Ugh is right. Super Ugh. Of course, I have no dose advice, but I hope he starts to come back down. I'm sure you are ready to see the last of the Clavamox. Clavamox is sctually on Jetta's no-no list. She has a pretty violent reaction to it (she becomes a dual-ended geyser...) so, if all you're seeing is icky numbers- it could always be worse!

Holy going from both ends Batman! Thanks for putting this all in perspective Jaq - indeed, there is always something worse!

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477 Ugh A Trak

oh ouch! maybe Zener wanted to keep Mookie company.... he's on the red floor too. ok Zener - time to try out the other floors. Maybe come visit Mannie on the blue one. He finally allowed the GPS to show him where it was.

Have a great evening guys!

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477 Ugh A Trak

Amazing how they just turn around ant soar like that. Down now Zenner, you've made your point. The abs can definitely be messing w/ his number, especially if he is having poo problems from it. Are you using probiotics? That may help.

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477 Ugh A Trak

Zener, what are you doing way up there? Any kitty crack sneaking, by any chance. I bet he comes down later. Hope your day went well Anne, and you got more done than me.

Zener has exited the red floor to pink in a big drop @+2, so we've upped the carbs to 11% to see if we can slow the express train a little. @-)

@Michelle - Zener doesn't have a GPS, maybe he needs one from Sandy Claws?

@Ann & Tess - Zener must be listening and hopped the express train. We are giving him fortiflora and he is having soft poo but no liquipoo or pudding poo today. If the ABs are messing with his numbers, then it's probably best to keep this dose steady until we finish those on Tuesday.

@Ann & Maggie - No kitty crack and you better get to Vegas, 'cause he's come down. {{anti-jinx}} We are giving him the ABs and his regular meds with pill pockets, so the extra pill pocket in the AM and then in the PM might be having some effect on his numbers. Who knows?

No Bupe today and despite his high numbers this evening, he seems to be feeling pretty good. His interest in his food has definitely picked up this evening and he is pretty excited when it's time for a mini-meal. :-D

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477;+1 458;+2 351 A Trak

Glad to see Zener has come down from that ugly PMPS. Maybe Zener is sensitive to the clavamox. Simon was on it and it seemed to make his bg go a little higher (or maybe it was my imagination). Anyway, I like to think that was the reason.

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477;+1 458;+2 351 A Trak

When is Zener scheduled to have his mouth checked by your vet? And just to make sure all bases are covered, your vet did do post-procedure x-rays?

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477;+1 458;+2 351 A Trak

Thank you for checking in, Sienne and Georgia. His followup is Dec 27 and they did the x-rays.

We've upped the carbs again a little to see if we can slow the express train. This is Zener's lowest BG since 5 cycles ago when he was in blues shortly after his dental. We just gave him pepcid and will give Clavamox in about 30 minutes. Could these high numbers have been a bounce off the blues 12/15?

We got to see Zener's x-rays both pre and post-procedure and the vet explained and showed us the teeth that were extracted and how she did it. She kept all the teeth and the roots to show us the resorptive lesions. He had two resorptive lesions thus the two extractions, one was a little worse than the other. His breath was really stinky and now no smell at all. :-D He does still have two sutures on one side and three on the other.

zener does love his express train, doesn't he?! mr excitement guy!

glad you got the xrays so you know no roots got left behind. i think that was why punkin ended up on 40 days of clindamycin after his last dental. his breath was terrible too.

sending healing vines to the little guy tonight!

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477;+1 458;+2 351;+3 271;+4.5 278 A Tra

Looks like the MC and pill pocket stopped the express train. We sure like yellow better than "you know what". And of course, we would still like lower numbers on the local now. No matter what, we want more. Beans are never satisfied.

@Celi - you just never know when Mr Action Jackson, aka Zener the Weiner, will put the pedal to the metal! If you blink, you may miss it!

@Julie - our vet kept the teeth to show us. The two that were pulled have double roots so she split the teeth then pulled each root separately, or something like that. The pieces are pretty darn tiny, so I can see how something could be left behind. We asked for post-procedure x-rays as advised here, not sure the vet would have done them if we hadn't requested that. They showed us the before and after x-rays and explained the images to us. I'm not well trained on reading x-rays, not dental ones, but it sure looked like there was nothing left.

Zener is now tucked away in bed with Liz and snoozing away. cat_pet_icon I'll get another BG test before my bedtime to make sure this isn't a food spike and he jumps back on the express train.

You could SEE the lesions?? What did they look like? Our vet will show us the x-rays, but darned if I know what to look for.

Hope to see Zener continue to improve.

Re: 12/17 Zener PMPS 477;+1 458;+2 351;+3 271;+4.5 278 A Tra

@Kathy - you could see the lesions on the teeth. The vet showed us where the root of the tooth was red, almost a raw red color, where the outer part of the tooth (the enamel?) was completely gone. They were pretty tiny but she kept all the pieces and used a small probe to point things out to us on the teeth. She also went over what to look at on the x-ray, so we could see where the teeth were before and where they weren't after. She knew we were very anxious about something being left behind so took time to explain things to us. We were very grateful, and as we have read on LL before "knowledge is power"! :-D

That's helpful, thanks! Now I know they really can tell when they say "no visible lesions." I kept wondering what it was they were or weren't seeing (last time). I feel so... POWERFUL! eah. Mighty Mouse, that's me.
