Looks like we are bouncing off those lovely blues from Thursday. Typically Weezer has cleared bounces quickly, so I’m hoping she will come back down today. We’ll see. One thing I have noticed since her dx is spiky hair down her spine, all the way to the tip of her tail. It’s not a lack of grooming. I can brush it smooth, but it pops back up. It’s kind of like Halloween cat, without the arched posture and not all puffed up, just down the spine. It looks like a modified stress response to me, but when I pointed it out to the vet, she made no comment. Recently it went away, but it’s back with this bounce. That reinforces to me my idea that it may be stress related, from high BGs. I have heard comments here about changes to the coat with bounces. Has anyone noticed anything like this?

Today, it’s off to do shopping for a family my friends at work have adopted for Christmas. My eleven year old granddaughter is going to help. What could be more fun than spending other people’s money on toys, with the help of a great kid like my DGD?

Hi Linda, I hope Weezer clears the bounce soon. That was so neat seeing her in the blues. That's interesting about the spiky hair on her spine. I'll be interested in others' comments. Today sounds like a fun day for you. How nice that is of your friend to have adopted a family for Christmas and make it special for them. That is an interesting observation about Weezers fur. I know some people see greasy fur when BGs are high. Trix's definitely felt different before diagnosis, too, but it was grease and not as soft. She's softer now, but definitely not where she was before diagnosis.

Very interesting observation, indeed. I don't have that problem with Blackie. I'm hoping that Weezer will come down for you today. Those blue #s were a treat to see, and I hope that we can all see them again soon (got that, Weezer?). Have a great day shopping, and please be safe if you're driving.

HI Linda, how exciting to see those blues on Weezer a few days ago! Very nice to see! I sure hope she comes back down for you. I agree, very interesting observation on her fur. I haven't noticed anything like that with Jetta. She got really dandruff-ey at first, but that's resolved since her BGs have come down. Have a great days shopping!!

Morning guys! Ah Weezer... still pink and bouncing? Come on down, remember how nice that blue floor was? Lots of fun things going on there! I hope she clears the bounce soon.

Interesting observation on the fur. Mannie doesn't do that, but there has been a difference in his fur... we have more of it! :lol: and with that comes more mats - a constant battle. He used to love brushing, now it's WWIII. We also have a greater amount of kitty dander, but no spikes.

FINALLY!!!!!!!! Someone else's kitty exhibits the same phenomenon!!!!!

I kid you not...whenever binks was in low yellows or higher...i would notice that same thing.

he has a very thick soft Manx undercoat with longer, more coarse guard hairs
(the guard hairs are the grey & black while the undercoat is a creamy beige)...
and his guard hairs would be quite stiff and unruly when he was in higher numbers.

I asked the vet...she researched and found no info relevant to FD...
I researched online and found NOTHING.

but that was always one of the indicators i noticed with him...

sounds like a perfect day with your granddaughter! we went shopping as well and here the crowds were nothing. there weren't really any - but we're in a small enough town that people go elsewhere to shop. we try to stay here.

Gabby's fur doesn't get spikey with higher numbers but her coat gets much softer and silkier with lower numbers.
