Got to get moving early this morning...another exciting day for me too..Mom's 2nd care plan meeting is this morning.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday and your kitties surf pretty!!

Re: 12/17 China AMPS 247...and trying raw today!

Don't be surprised if China experiences a bit of poo problems with the transition to raw. It will take a little while for her system to adjust but it's all very normal.

Re: 12/17 China AMPS 247...and trying raw today!

Good luck with the raw food. I hope it works out and China continues to like it. I hope everything goes well at your Mom's Care Plan meeting.

Hi Chris,
We'll be interested to see how China does on the new diet. Good luck. And good luck also with the meeting today.

Oh, let me know how it goes! I was thinking of trying to incorporate some raw for the lower phos, for the few meals I am home for. Hope it goes well and there are no poo issues ;-) Have a great day Chris :-D

So far, other than a bit of a surprise at +6, it's going well...she's still liking the Primal pheasant, but in the past, she's liked a new food a time or two and then turned her nose up at it, so we'll see how it goes

I was surprised at the low at +6 though, although if I'd been thinking about it, I probably should have checked more often...she went from a 5% meal to a 0% and that seems to have made a big difference!

Got her dental coming on Thursday, so hoping that after that's all done, she'll be feeling (and eating!!) better...and hopefully coming back down the dose ladder!!

Re: 12/17 China PMPS 127 Trying raw

WOW! She's still eating the raw pheasant!! (I did have to warm it just a little though...only 3 seconds so shouldn't have been enough to do anything to it)

Nice day overall!

Re: 12/17 China PMPS 127 Trying raw

Now this is just my opinion, but if you want to have better success with China liking her new diet....DO NOT buy a case of it!!!!!!!! And if you already have, you need to hide the receipt as well as the case. Delete this entire post and never speak of it again!!!!
I really hope that works out for her Chris. Sure seems to be reflecting on her numbers right away  Hope all went well with your mom meeting.

Re: 12/17 China PMPS 127 Trying raw

I didn't notice much in the way of "poo problems" when we switched. I did it over 1 week for Neko and 2 weeks for the civie. I did add a bit of probiotic, as their digestive system has to adjust like any other food switch. Their poos did get harder, but that's what raw food poo looks like.

I add warm water to the raw to warm it up and add yet more water. One tip I've seen for raw food - don't start with the expensive proteins first, cause then that's all they'll want. I knew someone who had to buy ostrich and elk only.

Nice PMPS China! :-D

Oh I KNOW not to make that mistake!! I already have 1 can of every different flavor of a very expensive food and she has eating 1 teaspoon of 2 flavors and refused to eat more, so I'm not wanting to open any more!!

I bought a "trial pack" of Primal Raw (frozen) which came with 4 flavors..Pheasant, Turkey, Beef & Salmon and Chicken & Salmon, so at least those shouldn't be the more expensive kinds...but of course the pheasant is the most "unique" so will probably be the only one she'll eat

I'm going to try adding a little warm water next time too..make it a little more the consistency she prefers..soupy

Re: 12/17 China PMPS 127 Trying raw

Here's a web page from the manufacturer of Neko's raw food. At the bottom has a description of what to expect when you transition to raw. I had to get an autofeeder with a cooler pack for serving raw, as you can't leave it out too long.

My kitties favorite is kangaroo, not the cheapest, but fortunately not the most expensive. I rotate proteins. It is a good idea to serve different proteins in rotation so having a trial pack is a good way to go.

Re: 12/17 China PMPS 127 Trying raw

Try a different type of browser. In any case, here is the text:
What to Expect After Switching

After switching your dog or cat to raw, you should notice a decrease in water consumption because the raw food contains a large amount of moisture that they can easily be utilized. Continue making fresh water available at all times.
You will likely notice changes in their stool almost immediately. The increased water content in the meat and vegetables may make the stools softer than usual. You will also notice that your animals stools are smaller and less frequent. It should be noted that when feeding bones such as chicken backs and necks or whole Cornish hen the stool can be a very firm consistency.

Detoxification

Detoxification is a natural process in which the body releases toxins through the exterior of the body as a way of cleansing internal organs and tissue. Some dogs and cats may go through a period of detoxification, where their system clears the toxins accumulated from their former diet. During this period they may experience some loose or mucous stool, runny eyes, and excretions through their ears. In some cases, they may lose some of their coat – to make room for a healthier new one; all of these are positive signs that the body is ridding itself of toxins. Each detox period should last for a few days, after which your dog or cat should look and feel much better. If symptoms persist for more than a few days, please contact your vet and have them checked over for other medical problems.

Thanks for the copy...getting the same message no matter which browser I use...maybe something with my anti-virus but will have a friend of mine check it out tomorrow to make sure if it IS or isn't infected.

Sounds kind of gross, but glad you told me. Would have been scared out of my gourd if I wasn't watching for it.

Now for the fun part...Thursday's dental
