What’s a cat’s favorite TV show?Claw and Order.

Well, a little blue last night! We'll see what's up for today. Turns out Squeaky doesn't like to go out and sit in the car. He only enjoys being on the grass. However, I still might have him do it occasionally. He needs to be used to being in the car. I would really like to take him on adventures this summer (picnics) if all goes well.

Wishing everyone is on the beach and surfing today!

@THH Do you think I could give Squeaky either the gabapentin and/or the buprenorphine in his food instead of in his mouth? He hates it when I put stuff in his mouth.

I know the buprenorphine needs to be absorbed in the oral mucosa. What about the gabapentin.... didn't you say there are pills for that?

Thanks a bunch!

Gabapentin pills for under 100mg have to be compounded and shipped to you generally, so probably wouldn't be much of an option right now. You can try putting the liquid in his food, but some cats end up refusing specific foods once medicine has been put in it.

My vet, who's a feline specialist and feline diabetes expert, told me buprenorphine isn't absorbed really at all if not squirted into the cheek/gums/etc. I asked after my cat Emily's last dental for her severe stomatitis; she acted like the buprenorphine was murdering her--in retrospect it was because her mouth was such a nightmare it was painful just to open it forcibly.
