WCR: Most Ps in place. I noticed last night that both of Shasta's pinky toes (back feet) were out (would not retract). I went in for a closer look...one of them looked like it was black (the quick part) and the other one was VERY sensitive...looked a bit raw and oozy (got hissed at a few times for checking on that one.) I got a few pictures, but of course they aren't the greatest seeing as I was trying to do it myself. She is walking on her feet (like normal), not on her hocks, so it's not causing soooo much pain that she is crippled. Her one toe is no longer poking out this morning, but the "raw" toe is still hanging out. :YMSIGH:

I will call the vet this morning to ask what I should do, but I already know they're going to want me to bring her in. They can't touch her because she's evil and I'm too scared to put her under sedation again. GGGRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

I did get snuggles last night and this morning. She peed and pooped this morning. YAY! :-D And appy is ok. 4 more days until break. dancing_cat

Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

I'm glad you got some snuggles. It sounds like Shasta's toes are already healing. Hopefully they'll heal without needing a vetty visit.

Snuggling is nice. Sore toes, not so much. Hope whatever her toesie issue is, it takes care of itself without too much bother.

Re: 12/16 Shasta PMPS=270 clavamox

So, I called the vet, left a message of all that was going on with her icky toe, receptionist called back saying my vet wants her on Clavamox. Oh, and he wants me to soak her foot in warm water with some antibacterial hand soap. :YMSIGH: I doubt she'll let me soak her foot, nonetheless take the clavamox. nailbite_smile

Re: 12/16 Shasta PMPS=270 clavamox

Like with any antibiotic, it can cause a GI upset. Some cats get diarrhea from it. You may want to add FortiFlora to Shasta's food if this occurs.

Also, is this a pill or liquid. If it's a liquid, make sure it doesn't contain sugar/syrup.

Re: 12/16 Shasta PMPS=270 clavamox

Thank you, Sienne. It is liquid form and I will double check on the sugars. I asked the receptionist on the phone if it was all kosher with her diabetes and she said yes. However, I've learned that this means nothing sometimes! And thank you for the fortiflora suggestion. I wouldn't have thought about that until it was too late...like on the road for an 8 hour drive to my parents' house! :-D

Hi Deborah ~O) :-D

I remember seeing those photos on FB of Shasta's toes. I was going to comment until the PC crashed. Anyways, I am glad you took her to the vet, the toes looked like she might need and AB. I've used Clavamox many a time. I agree with what Sienne wrote. You can also use greek yogurt, feed a few hours after AB's are given, if dairy agrees with Shasta. This did wonders for Mannie and the diarrhea problem.

Glad too to see Shasta has left the pink floor.

Hope your day has been a good one.

Re: 12/16 Shasta PMPS=270 clavamox

My Ripley was on Clavamox several times ~ in liquid form, it raised her BGs a little (it was made by Zoetis, and their rep said it contains saccharin). It was sticky and tasted like bubble gum (I still remember fondly the look on her vet's face when I told him I had tasted it  ).
When I switched to the Clavamox pills her numbers stayed normal. And neither form bothered her tummy.
Sending vines to your sweetie's toe!

Re: 12/16 Shasta PMPS=270 clavamox

Billie has been on liquid Clavamox a few times. I have found that giving it with a meal helps to avoid the stomach upset, and Fortiflora is helpful too. The one time Billie got nauseous from it, she wasn't eating enough with it. I don't know how Shasta feels about taking liquid meds, but Billie will actually eat/drink the Clavamox when it is mixed with a bit of milk or cottage cheese. It saved us the wrestling match when she was on it!

Re: 12/16 Shasta PMPS=270 +2=173 +4=178 clavamox

Thanks everyone!! Shasta was NOT fond of the Clavamox tonight. Definitely a tiny fight to get it in her and not all down my leg!!! Appy seems pretty good, though I did open some Friskies this morning to entice her to eat and make her feel better because of her bum toe. She's chowing down on her over night din-din right now and it's time for her +6 poke!

Josie, I was thinking that it smelled a bit like Banana bubble gum!!
Deanna, I don't typically have milk products in my house, so I'm going to politely wrestle her into taking it and pray that she let's me live through the night!!!!
Michelle, I ended up feeding her at PMPS and gave her the Clavamox at +2...didn't even think about when I should give it. ohmygod_smile I just had her on my lap and it just felt so natural!!!! So far, she seems ok, but I just hate seeing that little toenail sticking out, knowing that it is bothering her. I got nasty hisses when I tried to look at it. I'll see if I can get a peak tomorrow night. nailbite_smile

And Thank you Liz, Carla & Marilyn for all the well wishes. I'm not sure who will need them more...Shasta or me.

Keep the vines coming, please! Good night, LL!!!
