Good afternoon LL!! Thoughts, prayers, and healing vines to those who need them and also our deepest sympathy to Sue....fly free sweet Ghost.
If anyone has any idea what is going on with Princess Gracie's numbers...I'd love to know
Looked like she was clearing her bounce last night and then shot up like crazy. Mike gave her the pm shot and he said it went well; we always do the smell test just to make sure and he did not smell insulin. I saw Gracie licking her fur where he shot so I picked her up....no insulin smell. But her numbers don't make sense.....she wasn't in low blue long enough to bounce and the only thing I can figure is that she's still bouncing from the greens on 12/14....and that bouncing included last night. But why so high today? Dunno. But she has all 5Ps in place...especially the purring
Another night of wonderful snuggles with her sweet little brown paws wrapped around my neck purring us both to sleep. I got up to test her at +10 and then put her back in bed so I could feed Gus and got a tiny "chirp" that was like "I'm still here...don't lay on me". She's been playing with Tobes this morning; I'm in the office and she was in the other end of the house and I could hear her crying as if she didn't know where I was so I called to her and she came back here...tail in the air....little smile on her face....purr purr purr there you are mom!!!.
DM update: since Mon a.m. she has had pretty severe liquipoo and they put her on the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce, toast) as they felt it had to do with her not eating, taking ABs and pain meds on an empty stomach. It seemed better the next day but then was bad again on Wed. Yesterday afternoon when my DS went to talk to the RN, the aide was helping DM when she (DM) passed a lot of bright red blood so the aide told the RN who called the gerontologist on staff. Dr. H. said "not messing with this anymore...get her to the hospital in case she has a GI bleed". After many tests inc a cat scan (DM has too much metal in her for an MRI), they found she has severe colitis due to a massive E. coli infection in her colon. The entire colon is inflamed/infected. The doctor said that only happens through ingestion of E. coli which could have happened at Health South or the SNF (Kindred) where she was last week. Perfect...as if she wasn't weak enuff. So they have her on IV ABs, fluids, IV pain meds. She'll be in the hospital at least three days and then they will prolly send her to the SNF associated with her ALF....at least we hope because that SNF is spotless and a world of difference from the others. DS said DM ate some this morning but was still having pain. So, late last night, it was decided that I shouldn't come now as I will have to pay full airfare since the flights are booked. My DSs can take turns at the hospital. The plan right now is for me to go when she gets released to go back home to her apt so she'll have some initial help.
I know you all have been sending many prayers, healing vines, and words of comfort and it means more than you will ever know. If you could please continue to keep her in your prayers that she will fully recover, we would be so grateful. I am so worried about her and LL prayers....they contain miracles.
Hugs to you all for being so great to us. Have a wonderful day.
