Alska saw the Christmas tree last night. He thought it was something to eat so he grabbed a needle, chewed it and spit it out. So that answers that. Alska is the only one eating in my house today. My civvies are holding a hunger strike in order to get that lovely FF Florentine food that I was using to coax them to eat when they were sick -- They will be hungry for a while because I will win this match.

Since Alska was good with the LBs this weekend - even using the one downstairs - I left the door to his room open for him to wander. Yesterday, he was very high am=286/pm=377. I think this was because he got some of the Florentine that was left for my last recovering civvie. She wanted to eat in the kitchen so I put some down for her and then she ran away so I had to chase her with the baby-food filled syringe. When I came back the plate was clean and I had no clue who had eaten it - now I know.

But it's ok, you know what to use when he's low. ;-)

I answered you on yesterday's thread, doesn't Alska have a Vet appt this month?

Re: 12/16 Alska AMPS=141

I haven't made the vet appointment yet because I we won't find out how much our year-end bonus's are until tomorrow. I am on vacation starting Thursday through the 1st so I will make an appointment to get more insulin (possibly Levemir). Out of that comes a crown, car maintenance, personal property taxes and Alska's apt and insulin. Hopefully there will be some left over for a new rocking chair to replace the one he ruined. Hints are that the bonus's are smaller this year.

Re: 12/16 Alska AMPS=141

Can't the organisation that brought him to you help out? Or DCIN maybe?

Probably not, I think they only help when the cat is showing serious need of vet care and Alska's looking pretty good there. :)

Hope the bonus covers what you need. Will keep fingers crossed.

Since I'm on fixed income, I just threw the vet bill on my credit card........what's another 129.00? (answer: 200.00 in payments! )

Re: 12/16 Alska AMPS=141

One of my friends got a free Christmas tree at work last week. Since she already had one, she gave it to us. Mikey is still completely disinterested in it (at least he's not running away from it this year). Henry, however, has decided that sleeping under the branches is his favorite thing to do when I lock them in at night. I spent a half hour last night chasing him around the tree and out from under it. Can't wait to see what he'll do once there are presents under it. Considering how curious he is, probably open them all for us. ohmygod_smile

Re: 12/16 Alska AMPS=141

I haven't put up a tree in 3 yrs, but mine always liked to get under them. Lord forbid you have a kitten! Every kitten I've ever had around Christmas was all up in the tree!

For years, between kittens and tails from big dogs, couldn't allow any breakable ornaments on the tree. Had to be plastic or metal, etc. And NO icicles! EVER!

The kittens did discover the tree last night. I expected Bruno to climb it but they mostly just ran around the bottom of it. It only has the lights on it, no ornaments yet and I definitely don't do tinsel.

I did get a nice bonus this year which is only slightly less than last year so I will be able to get Alska to the vet. I have a credit card but I have to get rid of it. I can't afford the payments but if I had to I would use it for his insulin I would. I had to get rid of all credit cards before my monstrous school loan payments began a year ago. Nine more years to go!
