Good morning and wishing all a sunny mid-week day,

Sootie's ambg 79, appy iffy at moment, a bit annoyed by the fud hoverings of Bella and dancer. So the follow-the-dish-to-Sootie is the first play game of the morning.

Drat! Found a spit-out cerenia tab this morning.

This morning azalea to vetty fur her fluids and B12. I'm trying not to project about what the opinion-of-the-day might be about her eye. This morning azalea was spot on eating 2/3 of her breffis first thing. She's now so settled back in that I hate to disturb her to do eye drops, but they must be done..

Just when I feel that the balance of days in eye discomfort and pain are outnumbering her less uncomfortable as well as the comfy days.... all leading me to the conviction that its enucleation time soon....she shows me a comfy day .

So much for that....
Attached are photos of what came off of azalea's eye while doing her morning eye drops and photo of her after drops done. Have sent same to reg vet and OV.

Bump please and re azalea's eye.

Just off phone with eye specialist, hard to know just from photos but possibility maybe part of lens though Azalea not showing other usual signs of rupture. Enucleation tentatively scheduled for Friday or Monday. Homeopathic vet just texted. Thinks maybe the cornea.

Bbl.
bringing azalea to reg vetty right now for fluids and look see of eye's latest development.
@Bobbie And Bubba, @Gill & George @Gussie's mom @carfurby and eyes
❤️❤️

I suggest you get some size 4 or 5 gel caps for pills. That way you will know if the pill goes down and if not and you find the pill it won't be mushy. They were a life saver for me as my angels aged.

Great idea but Sootie can not do capsules bc of esophageal stricture.

That looks awful. I hope she's not in pain. It does look like it needs to be removed. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Long morning with Azalea and long for her, too. Upshot being reg vet concurs that enucleation best route now. He thought the gelatinous "piece" looked more like a piece of cornea separated from eye which might or might not be an indicator of increasing possibility of rupture. I'm relaying this as a nutshell recap as best as I can visualize it all. Oh yes, and the "piece" is now in a tube of sterile solution for me to bring to OV.

Confirmed with OV to proceed with enucleation on Friday. Local vet has confirmed will be available to us this weekend if any post-op complications.

Now is the readying for Friday. Among them being bringing azalea back to reg vetty for fluids 'boost' , and I asked them to do new CBC as pre-surgical b/w even though her previous b/w was a couple of weeks ago. (Local vet in-house b/w, OV sends to lab with 24-he turnaround).

Azalea got her fluids and b12 postponed from Friday bc if the unanticipated trip straight to OV from reg vetty bc of vetty concerns.

On a divergent note, after Azalea and I came back from vetty, DH and I had quick breffis at local breffis place, then quick to the local tree farm where I order wreaths and sprays each year. Usually do it just after Thanksgiving...but now at least it's done in time for pick up on Sunday. Ho ho ho.,,

I'm ready for a nap....

ETA: oh yes, azalea also got an injection of tramadol in-line during fluids hoping to help her with pain.
Vet says it'll be out of her system within 24 hrs and won't complicate anything having to do with surgery. Crossing paws that he's correct,

Oh Sina ~ Poor Azalea! Her eye looks awful and I so hope she isn't terrible uncomfortable. With her eating 2/3 of her food indicates she must be comfortable.......or she is just one very stoic cat! Keeping her in my thoughts and prayers for Friday's surgery and lots for momma too. I so know what you are going through.
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sorry about the cerenia tab. How are you pill Sootie with his esophageal constriction.

Sending vines for a very successful surgery for Miss Azalea. :bighug::bighug:I grew up with a cat who had an eye removed. Wouldn't have known it from the way he kept jumping the fences. :rolleyes:

Swallow that Cerenia Sootie, you'll be glad you did.

❤️❤️ Bobbie❤️❤️And Wendy ❤️❤️❤️ And have the traumeel ointment handy ❤️❤️ remembering your suggestion. Yep, worried and resolved at same time. Crossing paws and everything else.

As for Sootie and her new found wiley willfulness about the cerenia tabs (and omeprazole goo): the cerenia is 1/2 of a 16mg tablet, so it's pretty small. Used to be that she'd eat it with a bit of crumbled Origen soft freeze dried treats and then go on her merry way to Fud. Now she "spots/smells/tastes/textures" it and diverts around it. I think now that she's feeling better, she's more 'discerning' and not connecting that these things did contribute in some part to her recovery.

And bc there's something about being syringed that she reacts to: hurts? Different kind of effort to swallow?, i'd try a homeopathic squirty bottle but already tried that with omezaprole, no luck. No problem dosing homeopathics (she drinks from them as if it was a baby bottle), but anything other than homeopathics in squirty bottle: no way Jose.

Sina, I am glad that you are resolved. I remember going through the whole process with lots of sleepless nights and then when it was over it was such a relief.

Sootie, take you teeny weeny bit and don't stress Momma!

We are sending lots of vines and prayers for Azalea's surgery on Friday. I'm sure she'll be much more comfortable after the surgery.

Sootie: take yer meds like the fine kitty you are!

:bighug::bighug::bighug: for you, Sina

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Bobbie, Yes, likely about as resolved to azalea's surgery as I'll ever be. I admit to self-doubts and worry about her coming through the surgery safely. But at same time I do feel far more fully prepared and in ways that best support Azalea. This being because of this amazing fellowship and all that you and so many others have shared in experience, guidance and support. Thank you!:bighug:

Vet's choice of tramadol injection feels now more like not a good fit for Azalea. Hoping it wears off soon bc she is groggy, and as if on a bad trip. Been syringe feeding her tonight, and feel sad beyond words because though she eats what is gingerly placed on her lips, the syringe itself is such a startling foreign object to her in her present state. She's now under the bed. Trying spoon feed next.

:bighug::bighug::bighug: for you, Sina

I hope so, Ella. The way things are going tonight, I feel as if I have done azalea one disservice after another.
And Sootie: yes appt and meds vines...are you feeling the vibes, Sootie?
she was quite partied out when finally came home from the cold full moon party! But she definitely had a wonderful time!:bighug:❤️:bighug:

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:Sending lots of prayers and vines!
Thank you Amanda and bushelsful for you and yours too. ❤️❤️❤️

I am so sorry Azalea is having this problem with her eye. Poor little thing.
Sending many vines for a successful surgery.:bighug:
Thank you, Bron. She is indeed little (barely 6 pounds). Though Azalea has always been 'petite,' she is big in the fortitude and hanging in there departments. Crossing paws she hasn't forgotten that. Hoping all well with you and Sheba and sending our bushels of vines your way, too, super speedy across the oceans!
Sina

Prayers for Sootie's appy, and for Azalea eye and her surgery, hope all goes smoothly and she has a speedy recovery! Cats do amazingly well with one, or even no, eye(s), and I think she'll probably feel better once it's been removed. Prayers for you, too, don't run yourself too ragged! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Mega vines & prayers coming your way. It's so hard being a bean sometimes. They are just the sweetest lil things and hurts to see them not feeling well. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, all.❤️❤️
Unfortunately, the tramadol wasn't a good pain relief fit for Azalea. One of those i shoulda known better...,
She's still feeling the effects of it, groggy, hiding under bed. disoriented and growling. Is ok with a few syringe moments then it's squirm and race under bed again. Tried the towel wrap tip (ref : assist feed video), too.

No food after midnight tonight (pre-surgery FAST) so am worried that if won't eat....

ETA: I don't mind the syringe feeding..it's the inappy and worry about the effects of the tramadol reaction...

sounds like she's a lightweight like my Shadow was with pain medication. Mine couldn't take tramadol without becoming dysphoric.
Bupenorphine was better for her and I reduced her dose ....

inform the vet so they can either reduce the dose or change the pain medication after surgery.....

would she eat baby food meats ( stage 1 ) from a spoon....
or a sugar free yogurt...
deli meat....
I'd find her something that gets her attention so that she is well fed before her fasting before surgery....

Yes I worry about her getting enough fud and nutrition in before the Cinderella hour at midnight.

She seemed ok with the baby fud assist syringe feeding this morning including drops of slurry on her front paws.

She and I just home from vet, her pre-surgery b/w (did at local vet bc in-house b/w, vs OV, who's a good hour north of us and who has 1-day b/w turnaround bc he sends it out), then boost of fluids and general recheck.

I've been wanting to reply and update all day..things have been happening fast with azalea's eye. Yes that damned (sorry bout the 'biblical' reference!) tramadol. We made it through the vet visit and b/w this morning, doc saying the tramadol should have worn off by then (was 24 hrs since injection).

Brought home, let her rest, resumed fud feeding, rest and so on. By mid afternoon another piece of cornea? Lens? Extruding from eye. Heard back from OV and bringing her in earlier tomorrow morning. Says nothing more can do tonight, eye deteriorating fast.
Pardon this language too.. well I won't write it but I think it's obvious reference in such situations. Will update on today's condo too soon as can. Thanks for toiescsndveveryines love and support and vines vines vines. Love and hugs and vibes from us here too❤️

I am sorry you are having that trouble with the tramadol.
Sheba has oral tramadol 10 mg twice a day for arthritic pain and she has no reaction to it at all. As Sheba has it every 12 hours I would think that it would be out of Azaleas system in 24 hours.
Maybe Azalea had too big a dose of it. Sheba got like that with the oral bupe and I won't use that for her now.
So I guess it just shows the ECID.
Sending vines for a successful outcome
