Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty had a bounce going last night at bedtime and it continued into this morning. He'll probably start back down now (but Edward thought he smelled Lev.; I didn't). We all had a good night. This morning Rusty and I had a nice schmooze and a combing. He hasn't finished his breakfast yet. He's enjoying a snooze in his little bed by the radiator.

It's supposed to get above freezing today, so the melt will make things sloppier. We are going to the mountain club's monthly potluck this evening (they sure do come around fast!). Fortunately I'm down for a salad, not a main course!! This afternoon I have to start my cookie baking. I'll be making the first of two batches of orange shortbread cookies.

Our Xmas tree is still in the little greenhouse, propped up against the potting shelf. We'll probably put it up on Friday so that it has a chance to settle in before we put the ornaments on--probably next Sunday. (We are traditionalists in our family and, if we were going to be home for Xmas we would wait to put the tree up on Xmas Eve; but we'll be traveling on Xmas Eve and trimming the tree at my nephew's house. He may even go out to cut one down on Xmas Eve!)

Wishing all a good day and a fine week ahead.

Re: 12/14 Rusty AMPS 208

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O)

Not too bad of a start for Rusty. I can remember thinking way back with Mannie how grateful I'd be if I could call a 200 a bounce. his bounces alwyas had him pink or red. Down you go today Rusty! The lagoon needs its meister.

We are cold today, the first in a series of what are supposed to be 30 degree days. No snow for us though. It has to be so pretty there, what with all that white. Winter! I will hope your melt doesn't cause any problems. Enjoy the potluck tonight! You guys always seem to have such fun.

I can remember as a kid that my mom and dad never put the tree up until Christmas Eve. I'm not too sure hoe we got away from that, but it was a nice tradition back then. We have become so commercialized that it is nice to read that some folks hold onto the old traditions. KUDOS! How FUN that your nephew may wait and go cut one down on Christmas Eve. Way cool! that is another childhood memory. We'd drive out to the woods so to speak and cut one down too. Such fun times!

Have a great day today Ella!

Well, Rusty, if that's what a bounce looks like, Polly's been doing it wrong all these months. Hey, Polly, come here, see how Rusty does it.

Your Christmas traditions make me think of my childhood. Dad would haul me out to cut down a tree. A week or so before Christmas, granted, but I still got to ride on a sled while he trudged through the snow looking for just the right tree. I loved the smell, the snow, the brisk cold. Almost 65 years ago and I can still "be there." Thanks for giving me that this sunny, warm morning here in the desert.

Shortbread cookies? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, almost makes me wish I baked!

Have a great day.

Hi again,
Wow, I really missed my time on the board today. Those shortbread cookies took much longer than I thought they would. Then it was time to head to the potluck. Later we watched 3 hours of the rebroadcast of Downton Abbey, Season 4 (Season 5 starts in Jan.). Rusty really enjoys our evenings sitting on the couch, grazing on his dinner, and watching TV!! Today he didn't have much appetite all day, but this evening he ate all his dinner. I think the bounce affected him.

Thanks for visiting us. Our snow is still beautiful. There was no thaw today here.

ni ni,

Ahh, the lagoon has it's Meister again.

I've been thinking of trying the orange shortbread cookies this year, I bookmarked the recipe last year. They sound yummy.

My parents still cut down a tree for Christmas - my DF's 91, but tradition lives on! The beauty of living beside the woods.
