12/14 FLUFFY AMPS-113 +3-320 PMPS-288

I don't see 3 consecutive blues on the spreadsheet. What day/time are you talking about?

I suspect with that the 113 this morning, and no tests last night, that he went even lower last night and is now bouncing because of it. His body is not used to blues yet.

My bad! I skipped a row...just saw blues running together, then red
12/12/2022 324 2.25 81 107 2 151
12/13/2022 425 2 370 2
12/14/2022 113 320

But still that doesn't make sense to me. Last night his PMPS @ 8:45pm was 370, overnight it only dropped to 113 @8:45am today. If he dropped too low over night them it seems like his AMPS would have been in a "spiked" state then and not after he ate and was given his dose. I'm trying hard to understand this but it makes no sense to me. I can't make any rhyme or reason out of this whole FD. And I'm positive he had no between night cycles or overnight snacks or food access, which does occur at times.

how and when is his body supposed to get used to blues?

Feeding the curve to keep him in longer stretches of normal BG can help him get used to it. Some cats are more bouncy than others.

There were 12 hours in the PM cycle without any tests. It's entirely possible he went lower than 113 somewhere in the middle of the night, and 113 was on his way back up. And then he kept going up until that stinky pinky later today. Regardless, that 113 is lower than his body is used to.

Nadirs can be later in the cycle when they are breaking a bounce, which it looks like he did last night. The good news, is that he's only bouncing for a couple of cycles before getting back to normal numbers again.

As Elise said, it's fine to leave a little food out at night, as long as it's low carb. He cat eat to slow down his BG drops. Fast drops can also cause bounces.

Lots more time in blues and even some high greens. As to when, that's entirely up to Fluffy. All we can do, as suggested above, is feed to help his slow down and spend more time in those nice normal numbers.

Did you feed him within 2 hours of the 320? If so that could be why.

He also could’ve broken the bounce in the PM cycle, went too low, started the bounce at AMPS and then had it really takeoff at the 320 shot.

Look at sam’s sheet; you’ll see lots of examples of this

I agree that it looks like he broke his bounce during last night’s evening cycle — then you saw the blue AMPS this morning and then by +3 you saw the bounce when you tested. So I believe he dropped lower than 113 last night (we don’t know how low). Some cats take a while to bounce after they have been in numbers they’re not used to. I see cats who take a whole cycle to start going up — and then they really go up.

In particular december 8th sam goes from 270 AMPS to 333 at +2. Why? Night before PMPS was 166, +1 108, +2 66! Bounces in sam take half a cycle to a cycle to start. And he started at 166! You can see other examples of this as well.
Thank you for sharing. I see that you use a lot of strips! DCIN only supplies 150 strips a month, that's only 5 strips per every 24 hours and that's IF an error or mistake isn't made requiring the use of an additional strip or 2. Fluff resists sometimes or pulls away right when trying to get blood on the strip. I do not have the ability to purchase test strips beyond what DCIN provides. I, unfortunately get up several times at night for bathroom break and feed Fluff a snack at least one of those trips, particularly if his BG was 150 or lower. If his last BG before bed was 250 or higher I refrain from middle of the night snacks so his BG doesn't go up too high.
