Millie spent the day at the vet...blood test, urine, BG, etc... Good news, no ketones. No UTI, nothing abnormal. Didn't need fluids. I asked about a pancreatitis test but she said not at this point. I told her I wanted Ondansetron for nausea, which she gave me. I have Mirtazapine. Her BG was high and there was glucose in her urine but vet attributed it to vet office stress. She broached the idea of the FreeStyle Libre with me and I agreed to do it. So, Millie is now modeling a stylish monitor and should get her cute little recovery suits tomorrow. She came home hungry, although she didn't eat as much as she normally does when I put her food down. I did give her the odansetron about 30 minutes before I fed her. She's drinking well. The vet is happy with her numbers, and her progress. I think she's basically giving me free reign and not trying to micro manage me...like it would do any good. I'm sure that I will still be testing pre-shot forevermore. It seems like the Libre registers higher numbers than ear sticks. I will definitely use it to establish a pattern but won't be adjusting doses or shooting by it. Besides I have 8 boxes of test strips and need to use them somehow. Our next challenge is dressing Millie. She was not impressed when I tried to get the infant onesie to work. My cat who doesn't growl was growlimg and complaining.

It's good that you were able to get ondansetron. With pancreatitis it is pretty much managing flares with anti-nausea and pain meds. The Libre can read much lower than a human meter in lower numbers, so it's good to verify any wonky readings with a human meter. I think the Libre readings for first 12 or 24 hours (not sure which) are wonky.

Let's see a pic of her in the onesie? :-)

I think wonky is right. Last night, at PM+2, her FSLite read 180 and the Libre was 196 three minutes later (I realize that there is a lag in interstitial readings). This morning, at AMPS her FSLite number was 245 but her Libre reading was 357. I know it's higher because she is drinking more. The upside is that compulsively scanning is saving her poor little ears and, hopefully/eventually, I can establish a pattern between the two without having to go through so many test strips. It will be good when the Libre 3 comes down in price as the stats on it are better...more accurate, reliable and smaller. Right now, it's way too expensive. Pic will follow, when the onesies arrive. Trying to adapt the infant onsie did not work for Millie.I prefer a happy Millie and she was not a happy girl. Now to set up today's spreadsheet...
