Okay, my BFF and I were discussing our cats' respective reactions to our Christmas Trees when she sent me this, courtesy of the laugh-until-you-cry-or-snort-a-beverage-through-your-nose-(or both) magician that is the Bloggess.
Willie leaves the tree alone. Herbie is fascinated, but doesn't really climb, she only likes to play with the (non-breakable) ornaments at the bottom of the tree. Every day, I come home to the bottom half of the tree looking decidedly sparse. So I track down all the ornaments... some, like the hand-decorated fabric flowers are right under the tree, while the walnut-sized jingle bells on fabric ties are all over the house. What is puzzling me is that under the tree, right on the tree skirt, is always a pile of cat toys. I can't decide if...
1. Miss Herbie feels guilty about her latest tour of destruction and has placed the toys there as a peace offering.
2. Willie has put them under the tree as a hint that Herbie really needs her own cat toys and perhaps, since things generally appear under the tree, some toys for Herbie should find their way there. Or,
3. Willie is confused by the fact that there are not, in fact, ANY presents under the tree as of yet, and therefore, there are no bags or packages to sniff, bows to bat or ribbons to play with, and he is very concerned that his mamabean has forgotten the Christmas protocol and he is therefore offering a helpful reminder.
Your thoughts on this mystery, and most importantly, your kitty Christmas Tree (or Hanukah Bush) stories, would be greatly appreciated.
