Get with the program, Gus!

Right!?

It’s just so strange (or maybe not) to me that he was at least getting some low yellows before and now he’s just hanging in the high yellows, some pinks, on the highest dose he’s ever had.

I get NDW happens but he’s not even dipping just a little anymore.

I know Bhooma has mentioned glucose toxicity to me a million times ;) I just want to break through that - just feels like we are going backwards at the moment.

Vent over. Lol. Poor Gus Gus

Hang in there. Sometimes it's one stop forward and two steps back in this dance. He'll come down soon enough. :bighug::bighug:

Thanks Carla! :bighug:

He has two left feet it seems!

Actually, I often say this about him.. since his dbl FHO surgery he walks like he has two left feet - sort of. So this seems about right… lol

Our poster boy for glucose toxicity is Henry. Went up to 4.75U and then he didn't stop till 0.5U

Callie is another example. 5U was her breakthrough dose:

For Oscar it was 4U and he didn't stop till OTJ:

It can be very frustrating to watch the dose climb and make no difference to the numbers. Gus' body has had 4 months to get nice and used to higher numbers. Let us see when it decides that it wants to start responding to insulin! :bighug:

ETA: If he is in pain, that could elevate numbers.

Thanks for sharing those, Bhooma! They certainly help me see the light! :bighug:

I don’t think he’s in pain, he doesn’t show it anyway - tho I know they hide things. I’ve put him on the Dasuquin mostly as a preventative, since he’s bound to have arthritis and/or joint issues in his senior years but also a just incase there’s some inflammation or pain.

I’m up for a little at least for another test (+6) how can you be sure it’s his nadir.. lol he’s all over the place with his lows. I’m surprised he is ‘following the rules’ atm… lol

Yeah, I'm not sure it is his nadir. It possible he could be slightly lower at +6. I didn't think it was a significant enough data point to lose sleep for, is all! :)

ETA: Of course, I could be wrong!

Nah. I trust what you say you have much more experience.

I’ll probably test before bed just out of curiosity - we’ll see how he feel about it.. we had a loud noise at test time that made me have to poke twice and he was not a fan.

I was honestly wondering cuz it doesn’t seem like if anyone asked me when his nadir was I could say x time(ish)… he’s usually a PS nadir kinda guy :)

At least he is slowing down! Gave him a little more LC?

I did give a little more after testing. Actually, I’ve been giving a little after the last 3 tests. Is that ok? Is it the right thing to do or should I be trying to save some room in that belly incase he were to drop lower?

I don’t think it will happen tonight or anything but curious if I should keep it light on the food… I’ve been giving him smaller amounts then his regular ‘snacks’

I was doing that to try to maybe avoid a big bounce from lower numbers.

It's good to give small snacks after each test - especially in active cycles. And yes, you don't want to give too much and fill them up because you might need them to be hungry to eat well into the cycle.
