I'm still mixing her LC with HC to get her to eat. The few times I've tried just giving the LC alone, she only would take a bite or two. I think eating is really important right now, so I'm gonna give it another day or two before I really start aggressively switching her back to 100% LC. (I even let her have some dry kibble this morning :? )

She's doing good. Slowly getting her energy back. Slowly improving everyday. Her neck looks so much better. I wish I had known to watch the e tube incision site for infection. I just thought she scratched it open, and it would close up. And thats even what the vet told me. I should have been putting some antibiotic creme on it or something . I feel like a fool for not being more aggressive about it. Deep down I knew it wasn't healing the way it should ....

Good Morning Violet and Garland,

It's good that you are seeing gradual healing and it's almost certainly best to take steps one by one and not rush anything. Garland is doing so much better. Violet, please try to put the issue of the infection behind you. The important thing is that it is getting better. As someone said the other day: hindsight is always 100%! You have had a lot on your plate and you have dealt with everything so well.
We are wishing you a really nice day of continuing recovery for Garland and happiness for you.

Rusty is out gathering some healing vines to send to Garland; he is happy that she is feeling better.

"If" is one of the largest wasters of energy in the world. You are doing great with Garland. Don't waste another speck of enegry second guessing yourself. You will need it for the next pj party. ;-)

Violet you are a great bean!! We all have, if I did this, if I did that but it is the trying that is important!! You love Garland and you take such good care of her, you are truly an inspiration for all of us!! Dear Violet:

Mike kept me posted daily about Garland while I was gone and I prayed for her every day......but I knew in my heart that you have done SO MUCH for your girl and you would do it again and she would be absolutely
fine. She is a fighter and she has a most incredible bean.....I'm so happy to read this report that she is doing so much better, starting to eat more, and Mike said her ketones were down last night.

I think you will soon qualify to treat DKA better than the vet!! Do not beat yourself up about the e tube site. You have so much on your plate!!!! You've done fantastic.

Hearing Garland is doing better is refilling my heart. I know how worried you were and weren't able to take her to the vet and having your husband upset on top of it. I am glad Sienne and others imparted how important it was to get to the vets and for DCIN for helping. Do try and find a non emergency vet.

I am so Happy that Garland is improving so much!! It's because of YOU!! Cats get things and due to their hidden reactions to pain or discomfort, we Rarely know when something like a wound or infection is going on..Stop blaming yourself & start patting yourself on the back for her Vast Improvement!!

I know!!! So happy!!! The meter read "Low" 0.0!!! Whew.

Now I gotta work on her eating some more. She's still being super picky. Although I am quite pleased with her numbers , ....(considering the gravy food shes been eating ) I switched from mixing her LC with Gravy Lovers, to the basic gravy ones. Not near as much goop in those cans. But everytime I set out plain LC, she looks at me with those "Wheres the good stuff" eyes and then whines :lol:

This is all such wonderful news!!!

My Zen is the same way when he's feeling icky...he wants "comfort" food so I have to cave and feed him junk, just to get him to eat. I guess they really aren't much different from us humans, are they?

You're doing such a great job - Garland is one lucky girl!!

Just think about the "if I had only" that you didn't have to face because you acted so quickly to deal with Garland's ketones. No multi-day hospitalization and no multi-thousand $ bill.
