YESTERDAY
Day2 OTJ Trial
Good morning, everyone!

AMPS:: 90

I was a better bean and didn't test last night, and haven't tested this morning yet. AM/PM BG tests are at 7:00 EST, so stay tuned!

I'm up at 5 AM, well, actually at 4:25 AM because Tiny came upstairs to tell me she was hungry and wanted to be fed. She did the same thing at 1:30 AM too, which usually means her BG was running low. I'm guessing it also means her pancreas is healthily chugging away, too!

I didn't test, I just fed and back to sleep she went, I'm going b2b soon. I can see how an auto feeder can come in handy, but I'll need some tips on how to get her to NOT be afraid of it and then use it!

:joyful::D:D:joyful: Tiny is leading the way! I'm simply watching in amazement!

BUT, she is hungry every 3 to 4 hours, which stl means I'm up twice through the night to feed her. Is this normal?

Sweet set of bookend BG’s. :D

Maybe Tiny read the OTJ trial instructions, especially the part about small frequent meals. Hopefully she’ll beak the overnight habit. Can you leave extra food out for her to eat later?

Sometimes I think Miss Menace is more interested in food now than she was while on the juice unless she was running real high but then I lose track of time now (not so regimented anymore! :rolleyes:) and sometimes leave them waiting longer than I used to between meals/snacks so they get a little perturbed with me. She is no longer relentless/frantic with her requests so I think it has more to do with habit and a great internal clock I don't possess. I would suggest right now you stick with regular feeding times but later you could try giving her a bigger portion before bed and hope that holds her over unless Cookie presents a problem doing that. I've been trying that with mine and been getting away with only one feeding at night now. You could also freeze some food and leave it out to thaw for eating later to alleviate at least one night feeding or spring for a autofeeder.

spring for a autofeeder.

Great suggestions. I'll see what I can employ. I'll try to gradually increase her portion size. Sometimes, with bigger portions when she's hungry she pulls a scarf and barf!

How hard is it to train them to use an auto feeder? I thought I'd try one and see if I could use catnip to train her to not be afraid of it and eventually and gradually put food into it.

Thoughts?

Depends on the cat on the autofeeder training. Try using it first as the place to serve meals, without it being set up?p. First time Neko heard the feeder she ran away. I brought her back after it had stopped, and she quickly got it. She and Otto (feeder) became BFF’s.

try giving her a bigger portion before bed and hope that holds her over unless Cookie presents a problem

Our Cookie girl (civvie) is no problem. She has her own suite (our spare bedroom) at night with her own executive washroom (litterbox) and piddle pads strewn beneath like throw rugs due to her poopy issues, which have improved, but we arent taking any chances. She is in through the night.

Tiny sleeps downstairs on her poutang (some odd Ikea-named chair) and comes upstairs to get me on the two- to three-hour mark, like clockwork. The LC kibble is out, and she threatens to eat it when she's hungry, but she won't! She prefers the LC canned food and hasn't touched the kibble for weeks, maybe even over a month!
