All blue day and green nadir. Starting off green this morning as well. Max was attempting to throw up fur early and did a tiny bit. Then he ate a little food left out from +6.5 about 20 minutes before I tested. I only gave him a little 3% then and he ate some of it when I put it out so I doubt it had any impact on this morning's number.

I hope everyone handled yesterday without being able to post for advice. Prayers and vines for Tricia's crew which I hope all had good appies yesterday, Amy's DF and all beans and kitties in need.

Great cycle for Mr.Max, his SS is really looking good! I have a thought for you to consider- it seems certain he is pretty tightly regulated at this point. Yet still, we worry about trying to go to bed with those late night low numbers, but do you suppose with his pancreas spending all this time in normal numbers, maybe low late night numbers ought not to be a worry for you? It just seems apparent his liver isn't in panic mode. As always, I know nothing, but I got to thinking about it with your last condo.

Nice cycle today! Those greens at PS are great, but they still make me a little nervous

Looks like Max is surfing great so far....Keep it up Max!!

Thanks for the visit Ruth. That is an interesting thought. I guess I would need to test and not feed during a day cycle where he was dropping to see what would happen. The question I have though is that I had to feed him hc+karo to get him to surf the 50's. I think such an experiment might need to wait a while to see if he goes a little more down with dosing.

Hi Chris and thanks t you and China for keeping Max company. Since your experiences lately are close to mine what do you think about Ruth's observation?

He actually listened today Tricia! Hopefully it will continue. Carla, I was surprised that he didn't go up or dive. Max is not Mr. Predictable that is for sure.

With China, I know her so well that if she's holding her own by +5 or +6 and I'm not having to feed HC, I can pretty well figure she's going to be fine the rest of the cycle (and China has a long term habit of staying right on that 50 line...from 47-53 and she's always been fine...although it took me awhile to get to the point where it didn't freak me out)

I used to be able to predict her cycles pretty well by the +2 but she's changed the rules, so now I have to wait at least until +3

It looks like a lot of those times Max has gone low, his +2 was lower than his PS (but of course that doesn't mean it will continue)

You could try giving Max something higher carb at +2 if the number is lower than his PS and see if it will keep him from going too low and keeping you up all night...if it'll give him a few extra carbs to hold him up better, at least you may be able to get to sleep by +5 or +6 (if it works and he doesn't keep diving, at least you'd be able to get 2 hours past food before making the decision to go to bed without having to stay up all night)

I already do give him a little higher carbs then and do stop at +7 or 8 most nights and days too. I'm trying to figure out how to sop at +4-5 when necessary. Thanks Chris.

That's what I mean...if whatever you're using to slow down the drops isn't working well enough for you to be able to get to bed at a reasonable hour most nights, might be time to try something even higher

I'll occasionally give China a little 12% if I REALLY need to slow her roll

Hopefully Max doesn't have any plans for tonight so you can get some sleep! Very nice so far!

You've worked hard at figuring what works for him. It's always trial and error. Sometimes what works one night doesn't work the next. It does look like once you get him to +6, he's fine to surf. I know that has to be exhausting for you but he's looking great.

Hi Marje. The other night when we decided to carb him up, I tried but it wasn't easy. It was likely due to the depot I know but should I have given him a lot of high carbs at once? I was giving a spoonful with karo and he was just during too low to stop checking. Just curious if there was a better way. I'm guessing the answer is no. Thanks.

When you are dealing with a really full depot, sometimes you have to step up the game, if you know what I mean. In other words.....you had to feed more carbs to bring him up than you normally would have had to. The goal is to get a dose where that is not a recurring necessity :-D

Thanks Marje. Now we are on our second cycle without green. I hope he shows me green so I don't have to bring him up again. Do I do that tonight or tomorrow morning if we don't see green?
