Re: 12/11 Lucian AMPS 365,+6/69,+9/64
Hold Up! I never volunteered to foster! Just help the OWNER with testing etc.
Won't have results until tomorrow, said they would call, but I told them I would rather have copy of the results sent to email, so I could refer back to it if needed. I can be so contrary!
I was shocked at how much all the blood work and office exam WASN'T! $129 for everything. I put it on MasterCard because I don't think they'd take my Amazon Credit Card. When I have my blood work done, it's over $800, I figured his would be $3-400. But Dr already told me she would take payments anytime I need to do that.
She is so complimentary to me and amazed at what I've done with Lucian, his spreadsheet, etc, doses NOT in full units. Wanted to know how I do .75 and draw from the pen instead of using sharps.

I showed her the FDMB homepage (in addition to his SS) and she asked me to send her the link to FDMB.
Another of the vets in that office just returned from a conference and was saying that they are now starting to prescribe Lev to dogs because they respond better than on Lantus. Lucian's Dr says she's been doing some research on Lev, since I told her I had changed Lucian to it. She also asked about cost, since Lantus is so expensive. We had a great talk. She asked how I got the Lev, I told her from Canada. I told her, he's my cat and I'm going to do what I think best. She has no problem with that. She also said doing the curve at home, is time saving for her and agrees that the numbers taken at the Vet's are not accurate because of the cat being stressed. Booyow! Loved that admission! :thumbup
Nice to think maybe some vets are coming around. The ones in this office seem like it.
Back to Lucian, the fact that I tested as soon as I got him home and he was 64, has me floored! I expected the vet visit to send him skyrocketing. Oh and he's only 8.5 lbs. I thought he was about 10lbs. On his record, he weight was 6.9 lbs when I brought him home. Vet says he looks so good! :thumbup
Oh and he was good for the trip! I did trick him though. I have 3 hard carry kennels for them, but also have 1 soft side collapsible one. Lucian has always been in his original hard kennel and as soon as he sees it, he bolts and hides. Sooooo, I took out the soft one, zipped it all up, except for the door part, put his/my snuggie in it and set it on the bed. He went right in and curled up and went to sleep. 30 mins later, I zipped up the door and off we went! He only meowed twice, before we even left the apts. Was quiet the whole way (10 miles) and quiet at the vets. After his exam, she set him down by the carrier and he went right in to get away from everything.

He didn't meow coming home. I had to stop at the store real fast for bread and milk, came back out, opened the door and said "Lucian, you doin' alright?" He said "meow" and that was it the rest of the way home.
I'll be antsy until I get the results, but all in all, was a good day. She thinks his thyroid may be a little swollen..........I know all about that, I have Goiter from the Graves disease. Hope he's not Hyper, the meds taste like metal and I can't imagine trying to get them in him. Besides, if he was hyper, he would NOT have gained the weight, I KNOW. But they're testing for everything, senior panel, hyperthyroidism, pancreatitis, etc. So should know something tomorrow. Dang, forgot to tell her I tested ketones twice in the last week and they were Neg. Had I wrote it down on his SS, I would have remembered. ohmygod_smile
