Vet's at 3:00. Hope she can figure out what the problem is.

Ya'll give me ideas of what it could be please.
I know it could be the following:

Teeth
Urinary, except he had antibiotics

What else?

I need to know what tests might need to be done or what I should ask about.

Re: 12/11 Lucian AMPS 365 - Questions

Pain of any type. Teeth, pancreatitis (must be tested specifically for )

Infection

And just a general senior panel blood work could be helpful and really should be run once a year anyhow.

That's all I can think of but you might want to cross post on health and see if anyone can think of anything else.

I will be thinking of Lucian today. Hope you find out what is going on with him.

Re: 12/11 Lucian AMPS 365,+6/69 WTH?

69????????????? is that a last ditch effort to keep from going to the vet?

Yeah, I think a senior panel and pancreatic test might be good.

Re: 12/11 Lucian AMPS 365,+6/69 WTH?

It certainly LOOKS like he's trying to convince you of SOMETHING! Wow Lucian! You're MUCH better than either of your brudders...lucan or luian or whatever MamaBean is callin' you today! ...<..insert innocent look here...>....

Re: 12/11 Lucian AMPS 365,+6/69 WTH?

LOL you made me look to see if I had misspelled it again!

Keep us updated on what she finds. I'll be watching for updates.

He's in the lab, they are doing a senior panel and test for pancreatitis and hyperthyroidism. She is very pleased with what I've done and glad I did the curve a few days ago. Asked me a bunch of questions about Lev too, thinking of trying it with a 30# dog that is not responding well to Lantus. :)

I volunteered to help any newbies that wish to test and handle their diabetic kitties, but are having trouble with it. I guess I feel the need to 'pay it forward' from all the help I've had here on the forums. I told her she can email or call me if she needs me to help out. I feel good just making the offer, even if I'm never needed, I tried. I just know how hard it was with Lucian in the beginning.

Wish us luck and hope it's nothing that they can't take care of.

Hold Up! I never volunteered to foster! Just help the OWNER with testing etc.

Won't have results until tomorrow, said they would call, but I told them I would rather have copy of the results sent to email, so I could refer back to it if needed. I can be so contrary!

I was shocked at how much all the blood work and office exam WASN'T! $129 for everything. I put it on MasterCard because I don't think they'd take my Amazon Credit Card. When I have my blood work done, it's over $800, I figured his would be $3-400. But Dr already told me she would take payments anytime I need to do that.

She is so complimentary to me and amazed at what I've done with Lucian, his spreadsheet, etc, doses NOT in full units. Wanted to know how I do .75 and draw from the pen instead of using sharps. :-D I showed her the FDMB homepage (in addition to his SS) and she asked me to send her the link to FDMB.

Another of the vets in that office just returned from a conference and was saying that they are now starting to prescribe Lev to dogs because they respond better than on Lantus. Lucian's Dr says she's been doing some research on Lev, since I told her I had changed Lucian to it. She also asked about cost, since Lantus is so expensive. We had a great talk. She asked how I got the Lev, I told her from Canada. I told her, he's my cat and I'm going to do what I think best. She has no problem with that. She also said doing the curve at home, is time saving for her and agrees that the numbers taken at the Vet's are not accurate because of the cat being stressed. Booyow! Loved that admission! :thumbup

Nice to think maybe some vets are coming around. The ones in this office seem like it.

Back to Lucian, the fact that I tested as soon as I got him home and he was 64, has me floored! I expected the vet visit to send him skyrocketing. Oh and he's only 8.5 lbs. I thought he was about 10lbs. On his record, he weight was 6.9 lbs when I brought him home. Vet says he looks so good! :thumbup

Oh and he was good for the trip! I did trick him though. I have 3 hard carry kennels for them, but also have 1 soft side collapsible one. Lucian has always been in his original hard kennel and as soon as he sees it, he bolts and hides. Sooooo, I took out the soft one, zipped it all up, except for the door part, put his/my snuggie in it and set it on the bed. He went right in and curled up and went to sleep. 30 mins later, I zipped up the door and off we went! He only meowed twice, before we even left the apts. Was quiet the whole way (10 miles) and quiet at the vets. After his exam, she set him down by the carrier and he went right in to get away from everything. :-D He didn't meow coming home. I had to stop at the store real fast for bread and milk, came back out, opened the door and said "Lucian, you doin' alright?" He said "meow" and that was it the rest of the way home. :-D

I'll be antsy until I get the results, but all in all, was a good day. She thinks his thyroid may be a little swollen..........I know all about that, I have Goiter from the Graves disease. Hope he's not Hyper, the meds taste like metal and I can't imagine trying to get them in him. Besides, if he was hyper, he would NOT have gained the weight, I KNOW. But they're testing for everything, senior panel, hyperthyroidism, pancreatitis, etc. So should know something tomorrow. Dang, forgot to tell her I tested ketones twice in the last week and they were Neg. Had I wrote it down on his SS, I would have remembered. ohmygod_smile

Re: 12/11 Lucian AMPS 365,+6/69,+9/64

Sounds like a great vet visit all the way around. :-D

I never agreed to foster either but because my vet knew mine came from DCIN and how well they were doing when Casey's vet started calling around for his original owner about rehoming him my vet gave them my number to find out more about DCIN and when she said he was on 11u bid and being shot blind and was definitely not Acro or IAA because he'd been tested I wasn't waiting to run through the appropriate channels to get him on DCIN's rehoming list. Just figured he would live long enough to find a new home. Especially since he and his brother were living basically alone in a basement. Might have given him more time where he was if he had still been with his mom and not with the daughter inlaw and allergic son.

Ahhhh Yeah, I would have done the same thing. Hope to do that when I get my own place. Speaking of which, going into mediation 1/2/14. They won't offer enough for me to accept, but at least we'll be getting the ball rolling.
