Gussie is not eating this morning, have his cerenia onboard, will go pick up the Bupe, mirt, and other meds this morning soon as they open.
Hoping he will eat more at +2, seems to be when his numbers drop and he gets hungry..paws crossed..

my vet has me do 1/4-1/2 tablet of the mirt every 3 days... not sure if your Gussie has been on it before but be prepared for some vocalizing lol... drives DH nuts but doesnt bother me... get better Gussie :bighug:
 
Pancreatitis is the most evil thing. I hate it. Have you gotten him to eat yet? Out of everything I tried Gizmo finally responded to tuna water on food ON a regular flat plate. Not sure what the plate had to do with it but after force feeding for 4 days I wasn't going on question it too much. :bighug:

Very good point! My vet said the same thing to not dose any more than every 3 days. Apparently kitties have been overdosed on it and that is why the caution.

Eat your fuds Gussie and hope he feels better ASAP. I am still amazed at his great numbers through all this. :cat:
 
Come on Gussie, lots of cats here know that pain and are sending get well vines to Gussie. Hope you can find something that gets the juices going for him. Jack nibbled at tuna the last time he had a bad flareup. I also went to petsmart and bought about one of anything that was lowish carb. I figured the same, whatever he will eat is better then nothing for a few days.
 
Thanks all, not having any luck with the eating, just sniffing and a couple of licks, seems less comfortable after the Bupe, it's in pet tunic and they said to give a full 1ml syringe of the stuff..I gave him the mirtazeprine, that's 1/4 tab every two to three days. I know he is hurting..I'm going to head to the grocery store to get baby food soon. Do any of you know what I could pick up at petsmart that is low carb safe? I am struggling here. I keep threatening syringe feeding..

They sell authority chicken, the wellness core line, fancy feast(reports of ingredient changes though). Nulo is another low carb option that is in the store by me. There are natural balance(platefuls I think) that are low carb but low calorie, their canned is a bit high in carbs.

Hope you can find something Gusman likes.
 
Sending lots of appy vines for Gus. I would definitely try the baby food - that's one thing I have had good luck with and it does have a nice texture if you end up having to syringe feed him. I just really hope that he will get over the hump soon and start feeling good enough to eat and keep some food down.
 
Thank you! Headed out now..thanks! I'm back from the store And the feed store..bought enough canned food to have flown me home to family..what he won't eat will go to the local rescue because it's mostly smelly tuna. It's all from the low carb low fat food list tho.
He was yowling away when I walked in, but turned his nose clean up at the raw chicken..do I opened the first can I grabbed, a Weruva BFF tuna tilapia twosome..just put the teensiest amount on the chicken and apparently it stank it up enough that he finds it scrumptious..( it does stink of fish to high heaven)

He's now moved on to the civvies bowl..big sigh of relief, can you hear it where you all are?
PMBG was 64!:D
Whatever the ingredient in the BFF is its jump started him to eat so I'm grateful!!
I now have a gazillion jars of baby food and more coming from Amazon tomorrow....paws crossed I get to forward them on...

Keep going Gussie... you got this little man.. you need those fuds to feel better and heal yourself... way to go Leslie... yeah the yowling grates on DH... but it lets me know the meds are working and Benson will be looking for food soon... its been a godsend since Benson doesnt want to eat a lot with having CKD.... he lost a lot of weight but since starting the mirtz he is back up almost 2 lbs now :) and yes i heard that big sigh of relief ;) sending more healing and appy vines your way :bighug::bighug:
 
Apologies for not being around to assist this afternoon, was one of those days and then DH took a break and availed of invite to early supper with neighbor friends we haven't seen in quite awhile.

Glad to hear that Gussie dove into some weruva. P'titis the pits.

I don't remember the specific ingredients in pet tinic but I think one of them is mineral oil not hear for cats.

Does Gussie go for coconut oil? Even a tad once in awhile to lick off a paw or mixed in food...

Sounds like you and and Gussie may be doing the smorgasbord fud dance so good thing you got something of just about everything just in case. If we had any freeze dried Minnows and rugbrød we'd scurry it along to add to Gussie's table!

Interested to hear how Gussie does with the mirtz. I only tried it that one time with Sootie and crumbled it in a little food (that Dancer and Bella sampled behind my back so they were in on the mirtz ride too even it wore off sooner with them).

Sorry about the bupe not helping; I'm not the one to offer knowledgeable suggestions about it or alternatives other than cerenia also seems to have a pain relieving component along with the anti-nausea.

Re homeopathics: have you considered trying arnica, arsenicum (for different kinds of pain) or phosphorus (for bleeding/irritation) or nat mur (can be calming?) has your homeopath suggested other remedies (I remember you mentioned about respiratory remedies but I don't remember if you mentioned about pain inflammation remedies?). I know that determining a constitutional remedy best route but....

I dunno why he mixed it....o_O I may call if they are open tomorrow if he looks like he is hurting and ask for it straight. I pick up the topical in the ear hairs gel Monday but it won't be ready till the afternoon.
Now I'm at a loss as to if I give him the Bupe pet tinic mix or not...
He's snacking on leftover chicken, I hate to mess with the eating piece at all. I figure that's the critical piece for recovering from this?

I have a homeopathic prep heavy on traumeel and zeal that should help, it has a GI help in it too tho I forget the exact pieces.
He felt well enough to go after some catnip after his supper..

my guess is that sometimes vets don't think it through or don't have a med on hand or in a form that's more appropriate for kitty. That's what I've found to be the case lately learning as-we-go about new-to-me-meds the hard way and in trying to get the right meds in the right form for the ever changing situations at-hand. And, reflecting on my own running on fumes state these recent weeks/months with multiple and varying illnesses/diagnoses with multiple kitties, when I'm exhausted and worried and kitty in pain we question best we can, apply our instincts and get kitty home PDQ. Yes?
 
Just keep on eatin', Gussie! If you eat, you feel better and you won't have to take the bad-tasting meds.

Newman's Own organic 95% turkey dinner has a very moist texture (it's a pate) and smells like good turkey. (make sure you get the 95%, not the "turkey formula")

I know what you mean about extra pair of hands to help get things done around house. Kudos to you for accomplishing said task.

Here, often it's wait wait wait and then I get annoyed and try to do it myself (as I used to do anyway in my single and limber days without fuss), trying to figure out ways to get the task done with minimum impact or jeopardy to creaky limbs, joints, balance and so on. Probably anyone observing such pursuits might think me nuts...but there's nothing worse (or better, depending on situation or personal perspective, haha!) than a willful Dane determined to accomplish said task once and for all!
Or, simply put: "Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!"

I am the same way, but I find tasks seem so much more complicated as my overall strength diminishes. I've installed many ceiling fans, light fixtures, faucets, shower doors, household doors..and so on and so on but today I realized my age. I had to bring in the super stable ladder and it took 4 times as long to complete the job than in all the past fixture replacements..frustrating...but it had to be done as I was seeing the other one start to short!:nailbiting:
Fire and electricity are lousy bedfellows! It's nice and BRIGHT now as I got a big LED fixture.:D.wish I'd done it sooner, would have helped with seeing the syringes!:p
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping he's feeling better..:bighug::bighug:

Both include some of the homeopathics I was thinking of. Whether it will help target the 'deeper' kind of pain of p'titis vs the products' emphasis on muscular/skeletal (which also can be quite intense as we all know!) , I dunno.
