Sorry about the icky red this morning! Hope Furball comes down nicely today. We have used the relion confirm for the last 3 years, I actually have 2. Don't know anything about the prime. The number variance would bug me. Hope others will weigh in for you. Have a great day!

Ick on the red. That is over reacting a little huh? I hope Furball comes down nice and easy for you. Good luck on the meter. I have never gotten into the meter comparison. We switched to the Arkray Vital over a year ago. Have a great day Carla!

Morning Carla ~O) ~O) ~O)

Bummer on the bounce and the red. I hope Furball comes down soon for you. Nice ad slow Furball, 'K? Those blues last night sure were nice.

Good luck with the meters. I recently changed mine, as the meter I was using was discontinued sometime ago, and although the strips are still valuable I wonder for how long... so I switched. The new one reads consistently 10% lower than the old one, an acceptable variance for me. The higher numbers do appear to be vastly different, while the green ones appear so close in comparison, but the % difference was consistent. I'm not too familiar with the Prime, but wonder: is the difference within a consistent % range? Sometime ago I had tried another meter that was reading 28% higher than the one i just stopped using. That gave Mannie such horrible high readings that I stopped using it. well, I think the bottom line is that one needs to find a meter that one likes, and go with it. Not too sure how my experiences will help you... and I do wish you luck!

Re: 12/10 Furball, AMPS=407

Hi Carla & Furball,

Furball, bounce right back down again, OK?

I've done a number of meter comparisons and always come back to my Relion Micro/ Arkray Mini (they are the same meter: Relion is Walmart's brand name). All meters have larger variances in the higher numbers--from meter to meter and in comparative readings on the same meter. A major problem that many of us discovered last year was that the FreeStyleLite meter was reading too low in the higher numbers. It was giving people a false sense that their cats were doing OK, when actually their blood glucose was way too high. We all stopped using the FreeStyleLite. Although Rusty's numbers were on the low end of the scale, and comparisons of the FreeStyleLite with my old Relion Micro were pretty close, I decided not to fool around and to go back to the Relion Micro.

I agree with the others in the Loose Lips discussion: Find a meter you like and that gives reasonably good readings and stick with it. You can test your Prime with the test solution (call Walmart and ask them to send some to you if you don't have any). If it is consistently out of range with the test solution, you should return the meter and ask for a replacement.

Hugs from us,

Ella & Rusty

Furball is still high, but she's in a good mood. We had some nice playtime with a shoestring.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the meters. It does seem the bigger difference are at the higher numbers. I am going to continue testing with both for the next couple of days. Right now I think I'd rather stick with the Confirm and see if I can return the Prime.

Hi Carla, interesting with the Prime Meter and thanks for your experience with it! I'm using the Arkay Vital and have the Relion Confirm as a back-up. Furball, you can come down any time.

Hi Carla - come down Furball!

I've only used the ReLion Confirm, and I don't want to start using another meter and find out that I don't like this one! If that makes sense. I don't know of a reason to change (yet), so I just keep using it. I checked my ReLion against my back up of the same model, and they were very close, but I only did it for a couple of days to make sure that one or the other wasn't horribly different.

Come on down Furball, the fun's on the lower floors.

Hi Carla. I'm sticking to my Presto and Relion Confirm. I don't want to know how far off they are. The Relion is always higher than the Presto though.

Furball, enough of that bouncing. Time to get down to some lower floors to make your bean happy.

I too have the Relion Confirm, with a second one for backup and a Bayer Contour for extra backup. It's a bit more work for me to get strips for the Relion but I can get the Bayer ones at any time. I like the Confirm, mostly for the small size blood drop. It's smaller than the Bayer and what I've heard about the Prime.
