Hi Chris, Do you leave some higher carb food out for Checkers when he's green and you have to be at work? That may prevent a big bounce.

I have done that before. But this morning he was being fussy about his food and I wasn't sure if he would eat it if I left it out for him. Plus he was lower than I was comfortable with so opted not to give him insulin in the morning.

Usually, if I am home I can encourage him to eat his food, but when I am not there sometimes he doesn't eat it:rolleyes:. He makes it challenging sometimes.

I'd try to find an MC food that he absolutely loves and will not refuse and leave that out for him. Ruby loves anything fishy with gravy. If she's being finicky I will put a small spoonful of that on top of her zero carb raw and she will eat. That shouldn't make the BGs skyrocket and could give you some peace of mind.

I have used Fancy Feast grilled salmon in gravy. Sometime he likes it and eats it up but there are times he doesn't touch it. I've also tried Inuba's churu and put that on his food it sometimes works. If I can find something that works consistently I would be happy. Checkers likes fishy food too, which ones do you use, I am open to suggestions :).

I stick with lower phosphorus foods from Weruva. I get boxes of BFF OMG Devour Me and she adores it, licks the plate clean every time. It's 12% carb and is a mix of duck and tuna. The smell alone when I open the pouch gets both of my cats galloping to me and meowing. Because it has fish I feed it sparingly, rarely more than a teaspoon at a time on top of low/zero carb food or alone when Ruby's numbers plummet off of a high bounce from yellow to green. I keep the opened pouch in the fridge for a few days with a clip on it to keep it closed and fresh.
