Re: 12/1 Oliver AMPS 524 3+ 409 +6 354 9+ 310
Kelly, we all understand you wanting to discuss it with your vet, but please don't make any changes based on their reply without asking about it first. Vets just can't keep up with the latest treatments for every type of animal they treat, and most MIGHT have had a couple of diabetic cats over the years. (there's no such thing as a feline diabetes specialist)
We find most vets have no idea what they're doing and don't understand bouncing, or depot insulins and how they work, correct dosing, etc.
In just the time I've been here, I can almost say for 100% that there are cats alive today because of the people here (My own being one of them)...Our vets told us to start at crazy high doses instead of starting low and going up slowly. It's not that they're trying to hurt our kitties, they just don't have the time to really keep up to date.
The people here have tens of thousands of hours of real life experience on treating diabetes and the diseases that come with it. It's all we do. No, we're not vets, but we'll be here for you 24/7 to help advise you...and our number one concern is always going to be keeping Oliver safe
Just something to think about..and yes...the more tests you can get in, the clearer the picture will be on how well he's actually doing on this dose. There's just no such thing as too much data.
