Mr. Pink again! Hoping he changes into blue for PMPS or sooner...

Johnny did a little mouse chasing and jumping this a.m. before settling into his fort. I wish I had a nice fort on a cold, snowy day like today. What do you think? Should I throw a blanket over my office chair and snuggle in? Might get me a couple days off while they 'evaluate' me.

On weekday mornings, Brian tests him around 7:15 because he's up and moving around and the kitties are demanding breakfast. Our shot time isn't until 8 or 8:15, so there's some time in between. Just full disclosure in case there is anything wrong with doing that.

Re: 12/1 Johnny AMPS 324

I often test at +11 in the morns because I want to see what direction mine are headed.
There are some days that there is a huge jump higher in the BG in that last hour, so it's best to make shot decisions (go or no-go) on a BG taken no more than 15min prior.
These cats are pretty sly, but I am sure you are well aware of that fact.

I hope Johnny has a great day today.

Hi Janice, it's nice to see you back here, but a shame at the same time, kwim? I'm hoping Mr P just needs a tad more healing before he's back on the job full time. Now Johnny, come down off that pink floor, ok?

Re: 12/1 Johnny AMPS 324

So, the test that he dose is what you are calling your AMPS, Janice? I have heard that it is best to test, feed and shoot...all within 10-15 minutes. So, I know that it's impossible to wait to feed a bunch of starving kitties...so I don't know what to say...
What time do you shoot at night then, 8:15?
And dinner is served at what time?

(are you going to ban me from visiting your condo from now on?)

Re: 12/1 Johnny AMPS 324

"And dinner is served at what time?" Are you coming for dinner tonight, Pat? Hehe. You're welcome to join us for Chopped Grill Feast! The daytime food is left out until dinner, which is usually just before the shot (7:45) or so. Maybe we need to switch this all around.

Okay, back to facing the music: Yes, I've been using Brian's test as the AMPS. :? I wasn't doing so thinking it was wrong, but now I see the point that it's an hour before his shot, so numbers can change a lot. For the time we were in Michigan, we did test/feed/shoot in short order. Evening/morning shot is at 8:15 right now. Brian gets up for classes at 6:30 and leaves at 7:45. He usually can hold them off until 7:15, but knowing that someone who knows how to open cans is awake is very exciting for kitties. lol

We'll have to rethink this plan. The thought of 7am wake ups sound terrible to me, but while I can get up and go back to bed, Brian doesn't seem to have this ability. I'll have to talk to Brian and come up with a compromise. Maybe 7:30. I realize we need to reign in our schedule.

You're allowed back anytime, Pat! All good stuff you're pointing out.

Re: 12/1 Johnny AMPS 324

I'm sorry Janice...it's just that lots of things impact lots of things. (lofty, ain't I?)
But I do what kitties are like when it's time to eat. And when it's 15 minutes AFTER the time they are supposed to eat, they really panic...so let's not even talk about an hour "late" ;-)

If you can shoot at 7:30 AM/PM it would work. right? But hey, life is about lots of other things besides the shots.....
Isn't it SO much nicer when they are at the Falls?
Raja misses it more than I do though...and she lets me know in no uncertain terms twice each day!

ETA: I expect that both of them will be back there in no time...I had to add that!

Re: 12/1 Johnny AMPS 324

PMPS tonight: 288. No food for at least 2.5 hours.

We've decided to do 7:30, but will ease the time back over the next day or two. (can you move back 30 minutes at once or just 15 at a time...will look in the sticky). Brian gets home around 4:30 or 5 and will feed them a little to encourage not eating within 2.5-3 hrs before testing. Sound good? Otherwise, it's free-range eating throughout the day, though they really just snack here and there.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Pat. I'd love for Johnny to share a ride back to the Falls with your Raja! It would be an honor. It really is SO much nicer at the Falls. I think when kitties go there, beans get their memories erased....or at least that's the story I'm sticking to about so many things slipping past me upon re-entry here. Thanks for your patience!

Re: 12/1 Johnny AMPS 324 PMPS 288

Hi Janice - you can move 30 mins per day, so all at one shot, or 15 mins each shot. As far as the food goes, I would think you could continue to free feed them, as long as Brian picks up the food when he gets home.
