Morning all -

Sorry I didn't get by to update or visit condos. I spent much of the afternoon trying to figure out how to ship the blood to MSU. I finally spoke with them yesterday morning, and they agreed to let me send it. The problem was finding an insulated mailer to actually send it in. I cannot believe that no one sells them! Not FedEx, UPS, Staples, Office Max - I checked every place I could think of. Finally, the lady who runs one of the UPS Stores said she happened to have one that someone had used to send her something and she gave it to me! So, it's off to MSU. We'll see what the results are! In other bloodwork news, the vet called to say Emma's ALT is back to normal, so I'm very happy about that!

The girl had a nice blue PMPS and another one for AMPS this morning. I do love seeing that color in the morning! I wish it would stay all day though! I only made it for a +1 last night before I had to go to bed, as pathetic as that is, but if she follows her usual pattern she probably climbed into the pinks by +2 or 3. I bumped her up to 8.25 this morning. She is a happy kitty today. Breakfast was attacked with gusto, and she's currently stretched out on her blanket washing her face.

I will try to stay awake and visit condos later. I really wish I could kick whatever it is that I have. I'm starting to wonder if I have strep throat, because it's sore and almost feels swollen. Not fun.

Have a good day!

Re: 12/1 Emma AMPS 187 - bloodwork update

Hi Kristen,
Good luck with Emma's blood test. I'm surprised that you couldn't find an insulated mailer. Did you ask at your vet's? They have to send blood and urine specimens all the time to labs and so should have insulatd mailers. When I ordered insulin from CanadaDrugsOnline it came in a small styrofoam insulated box. I saved it, so if you order insulin from Canada, saving their mailer might be an option for the future.
I hope you will be feeling better soon. If it is indeed strep, you must go to the doctor!
Good numbers for Emma today,

Ella

Re: 12/1 Emma AMPS 187 - bloodwork update

I agree with Ella it's best to test a sore throat. These days strep doesn't always present as it used to but the consequences of not treating can be severe. If you don't feel better today than yesterday try to get a test done. Hope you feel better fast  and good luck with Emma's dosecrease and getting the results for her blood work quickly.

Re: 12/1 Emma AMPS 187 - bloodwork update

I am glad that you were able to get blood off to MSU. Phew - what a relief. I too am surprised at the difficulty in finding an insulated mailer. aiyee! Glad it all worked out.

And yes - take care of you too!

Very nice amps for Emma. Blue! YAY!!

Hi all -

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm feeling a little better tonight. My throat is less irritated.

I'm so excited about her PMPS tonight! 117 - we haven't seen anything that low since mid-October! Maybe we'll see a green in the morning! Woo hoo!

To answer Ella - my vet's office told me they use a courier service to send their samples out, and they put the vials in a sealable bag, inside a pill bottle, inside a regular box with a ice pack. The person I spoke with at MSU specifically directed me not to send it in a regular box, so my vet's office was no help with the insulated mailer. I just really couldn't believe none of the shipping places I contacted had them at all. I do order from canadadrugsonline, and wish I had kept the styrofoam mailer they sent me! I'll be sure to keep the next one I get ;-) I also found out from the doctor that their lab is in fact NOT set up to run either of these tests. They could arrange for the IGF-1 to be run (i.e., they have a code in their computer system to charge clients for it), but they would hand it off to their courier, who would send it to - guess who - MSU!

Off to visit some condos for the first time in a while!

What a wonderful pmps - look at that 117! I hope she has a great night.

so so interesting on the vet and the lab and the mailer etc etc etc... I love the lab that would have to send it out anyways to the place you need it sent to. omg! well - unreal, but at least you were able to get it our to them.

Good day for Emma--Hope you feel better--Once I shipped a pie I made to my niece in college & private mailimg place sent it overnight in an ice pack--Got there in great shape..Feel Better!!!

Fingers crossed for you on the test results! Hopefully you'll have results back from DCPAH / MSU in about a week from now (the IAA may come in first with the IGF-1 on Friday...?)
