With the meter reading HI, I went with 1.5 Lantus and 0.5 R. The R will bring him down 100-200 points (0.5 drops him roughly 100 points, so I'm hoping the drop is linear.
At +2, he was down to 471 so the R brought him down AND covered the food spike. The extra 0.5 of Lantus won't have much effect, as it is the 1st cycle. I went with 1 unit of ProZinc, rather than 1.8, since I gave some R this morning and I'm concerned he went HI due to too much insulin.
Total insulin this morning is:
0.5 R to get him down from HI
1.5 Lantus for basal dosing, includes increase of 0.5 which won't kick in for 3-5 days
then 2 hours later
1.0 ProZinc (down from 1.8) - to continue working with today's glucose levels
There has to be something that will work for this cat. I have yet to find it.
