It was a 5 cat morning on the bed - civvies Buster, Street, Moppet, and Pip, plus Spitzer. Spitzer came up on my chest for cuddles once he realized I was awake.

Downstairs, while having an obligatory mug of tea and milk, Spitzer played some, groomed some, then lay down beside me for a bit.

Spitzer was a nice 158 @ 8 am this morning. I fed the mix of Friskies & Special Kitty last night.

The Friskies is 7% carb vs. the Walmart turkey which is 3%. The higher carb level of the Friskies may be the issue. Have you thought about trying the Fancy Feast Turkey & Giblets? It's also 3% or Wellness Turkey is 4%. It may be that Spitzer is fairly carb sensitive.

Because I'm feeding 11 cats, I really need to use bigger cans - 3 oz cans would wind up with 22 cans per day! If mixing a large Friskies with a regular sized Special Kitty results in a lower average carb level, plus slower eating, that may do the trick.

good morning guys! A nice blue start to the day over here in this condo .. looking good spitzer! We use the wal mart brand turkey and giblets, they are 5.5oz cans and comes in a pack of four for 1.34 ... have a great day guys!

Popped home at a late lunch to check Spitzer. I'd added some Fancy Feast (10%) to some leftovers in the downstairs plate during breakfast and I know Spitzer had some. May wind up switching totally to Special Kitty for the lower carb.

Very nice amps for Spitzer today!!! Boy, that has to be a tough one to get everyone fed and make sure anyone who needs something special gets it. We only have four and we are constantly monitoring each dish so no one gets contraband (no one being Miss Gracie and her sidekick Tobey).

Its why I'm trying to feed everyone the same thing and in reasonably sized cans (3 oz cans aren't gonna cut it)! Before making the switch to all canned, lower carb, I checked my 11 year senior Farrall and Spitzer's momma Precious to make sure neither of them had any problems with higher protein, lower carb diet. No renal or diabetic signs were observed in either, fortunately.

I hate wasting food, too, yet I want to be sure food is out for Spitzer to nibble on throughout the day, rather than getting so hungry he pulls a scarf 'n' barf. This means some may be left the next time I put down fresh food. I'll try to freshen it up a smidge (warm water, some new) and let them pick at that before putting down an entire plate of fresh food. I have to pay attention and discard anything if its more than 24 hours old, as the last thing I need is upset tummies from spoiled food in any of the 11.
