This morning's blood test was weird, Mav's ears were cold again, I got a 128 but the sample was really small, and I didn't think it registered at first on one side of the strip, so I flipped over to the other side. I don't think you're supposed to do that , so I retested a new pokie spot and got 502 :woot:. Either number is shootable, and I suspect he's somewhere in between. Will try a +1 just in case he's closer to the lower end, which is possible, he surfed a nice blue range for a while last night. Happy Saturday :coffee:

Well that's quite a difference! when I was using the AT I got a few errors/wasted strips because there wasn't enough blood. Hope Mav is closer to the first number, however. :cat:

Yikes on the AMPS you'll know more with the +1 hoping it was 128

Have you replaced your AT2 batteries? I had trouble when they got low (of course, at a crucial time when I couldn't leave her) and stocked up on batteries so I'd never land there again. Did you test the strips with the concentrate? Back when I was having trouble (or thought I was), someone suggested I test myself. I now know that I am not a diabetic - human or feline :p - but wow - it's not fun to prick your finger! :(

Girlie gets cold ears all the time, and it's then hard to get a decent sample, but with the AT2, all I need is the tiniest of drops. I am a very, very bad cat mom and am too lazy (most times) to walk to the kitchen to throw her rice sock in the microwave. I've found that she only objects to testing when her ears are cold.

Often if the sample is too small due to cold ears, I have to push the blood up or even test at a new spot. This has happened many, many times for me when she's had cold ears, and I've never had a problem trying to test an area, have the sample too small to register, then pushed blood up or re-poked, and then tested again with the same strip which has just been ticking away in the meter, waiting for me to test.

Also, sometimes I test from the underside of her ears rather than the top. New pokie space that's easier to reach sometimes. :-)

As a non-expert (so take this with a shaker of salt - forget the grain!) - do you think that Mav could just be bouncing from the recent shark dives? I looked back at your SS, and it seems like every time Mav hit green - and especially lime green - he went EEK! and popped up into more familiar, higher numbers. Could this be a bounce from the two fairly recent shark dives, I wonder?

Most definitely bouncing from the limes! He always needs a few cycles to clear those bounces! The blood tests in the morning are usually ok, this time there wasn't a visible drop of blood, it kind of seeped into the fur, I've read you can use polysporin, to make the drop stay in place, but that happens to be in the kitchen with the rice sock...I too am lazy to walk down the stairs to get those items  if / when I happen to need them.

Just did a battery swap on Nov 3rd...after wonky readings, plus the battery icon came on, then went off again. Had to drive first thing when the stores opened at 7:00 am in winter storm conditions to pick up a four-pack of new batteries...and I now have back up batteries, right beside the rice sock and the polysporin lol.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only lazy mom out there! :-)

I got a second AT2 kit as a backup, just in case. Every time I've thought it might be the meter, it's just been Girlie being Girlie, though.

When I started, I used to put a little vaseline on her ear before I poked: that made the blood drop bead up really nicely, and stay in place. But now I am ultra-lazy mom - plus, with all the pokes, she bleeds like a trooper now. But her ears are different: one ear bleeds better than the other: the good ear produces nice drops; the other just produces little trickles of blood.

Do you use the lancet? I never got the hang of manual poking. The couple of times I've tried, Girlie was seriously not impressed and made it clear that I needed to use the lancet instead.

Driving through a winter storm at 7:00 am to get AT2 meter batteries: you are a trooper. :-)

+3 =279, I fed small amounts of LC at +1 and +2 though I didn't test. I was trying to see if I could flatten him out tonight; he had a good drop last night, and started in black this morning, stayed pink all am cycle. Hoping tomorrow will be less bouncy
