He might have eaten (carb-y grain heavy) rat food yesterday which kept him off the beach  The rats were kicking food out of their bowls and some got onto the floor. I may have missed a few pellets while cleaning. Nothing new in his world otherwise. The leg is still wrapped. I haven't seen any wobbling lately.

Raisin has meds now. The vet was concerned about her lung noises and her bulging eyes which could indicate heart or lung issues. The eyes have always been bulgy 🤷‍♀️ The previous resident never said anything about the bulgy eyes when I've brought Raisin in for resp issues. X rays were done. The vet didn't see anything on the results but the radiologist will have to look at them tomorrow.

The vet hospital had a donation bin in the lobby to collect pantry items for people and pet food. The local newspaper has an article about the rising cost of veterinary care. Then there's the whole government shut down and SNAP benefits thing. It's hard for many people to afford pet food and veterinary care these days, never mind food and health care for themselves :( I might donate some of Leroy's medium carb food. He really doesn't need a whole case. I have a bag of "yucky" freeze dried raw but I don't think they'll take that. I imagine other vet hospitals and animal charities are also doing similar things. If you're able to, donate food or purchase something off their Amazon or Chewy wish list or donate money.

Very good reminder, Squeem3. I've been very concerned about the people AND their animals. If the humans can't feed themselves, then they certainly can't feed their fur-babies (though I've known of people who forego food for their fur-babies). I'm glad people are trying to organize for the animals too. I've also heard that pet surrenders to shelters are up due to this issue.

Some food pantries have pet food available but, like with everything else, it all depends on what people donate. A local SPCA or Humane Society or other animal organization will most likely have resources for free pet food drives, donation collections, how to find affordable vet care, etc besides the usual monetary donations. Maybe a topic for Community or Health or Think Tank🤔 I'm sure there are members here o FDMB who are struggling and would appreciate some help finding local resources. @Tim & Pookey

Chiming in with another "good reminder!" Things are certainly difficult right now, for some much more so. 🙁

I hope Raisin's results still look okay and all is well in ratland. It's really disconcerting when you have two vets where one is very concerned about something the other completely brushed off.
