Morning all

Java is out of sorts again this morning. He hopped off the bed and came down the hall purring with me, was annoyed at his test, meowed for some food, and then ate about 2 mouthfuls of food.

All he wants to do is sit on us at the moment, and while he will take interest in his toys, he can't be bothered playing. He just seems a little off still. No action on the pee front - the cat door is locked from both sides and his litter tray is waiting.

Hoping is not the dreaded ketones! Still hoping that is just him getting used to having lower numbers - he is at his lowest AMPS since we began this dance so im hoping that's a sign of good things to come today. Although tomorrow will be hard - neither of us can be home to test him! Will have to see how he goes today, and what he is like AMPS as to whether to shoot or not.

*Sigh*

Hi Charlene! There must be some conspiracy with fluffy black cats not eating this week. Billie's appy was off yesterday and is still a little off today.

You may have heard these suggestions already, but here are some things that may help:

parmesan cheese
oregano
fortiflora
chicken stock (unsalted, no onion/garlic)
tuna water (no onion/garlic)
boiled chicken breast or rotisserie chicken
warming up the food

Yesterday, I got Billie to eat by mixing chicken stock with her wet food and sprinkling some oregano on top. She also usually goes for chicken breast or rotisserie chicken, and I can sometimes get her to eat a meal's worth of that even if she won't eat her regular food. So, at least it's something.

I hope Java's appy picks up soon! I'm glad you're seeing some progress with his numbers!

Deanna - Billie is beautiful! Those eyes!! Maybe they are both just being a little miffy!!

Ill try warming up the food - he's been back a couple of times and had a few more goes at it, so Ive given insulin!

Might need to look into fortiflora as well i think :) Off to google it in NZ

I hope the appy improves. I sprinkle freeze dried chicken or turkey crumbs on Max's food and that usually works.

Decided to take him to the vet after we noticed him leaking a little pee!

Low grade UTI. Bonus ketone screen - negative!

Poor little hairy piggy

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the UTI but glad you caught it and took him in, and good news on the ketones. I'm sure he'll start feeling better and eating better as the UTI clears up! Billie says thank you for the compliments earlier :-D She loves compliments. Java is absolutely gorgeous too!

Sorry about the UTI. Is Java getting an antibiotic? If so, which one. Some kitties can get loose stool from antibiotics, so a probiotic can be a good thing. Fortiflora works as a probiotic too. Here it's available either at the vet clinic or from Amazon online.

Hey Wendy

Java's had a 4 day shot of amoxicillin so will see how we go :). He's such a cuddly muffin right now, just wants to be with his beans.

:)
