at least some tutu action & not just red. another 2 mid cycle readings tomorrow and then we're going to 2 units.
he's got a little diarrhea back. 5 p's good but i can't help feeling something else is going on with him.
we just don't know what......... negative ketones

This morning at +6.5 - he gave me a 163 so we are holding 1.75fat for a while longer

Nice blue mid-cycle in the p.m. cycle and a pretty healthy drop but not enough that should account for the high preshots. If he was bouncing he should have settled by now as long as you've held the dose.

Got a question for you. Instead of trying to catch random nadir checks, do you have a day of the week where you can run a full curve and test every 2 hours or at least a mini curve where you test every 3 hours? Like a day off or a weekend day/night? Full curve would be the best but a mini would fill in a lot of missing data. If you can, what I would do with all you have on your plate right now is get preshots up until curve day, maybe a few just random spot checks, then run a curve and see if perhaps his nadir isn't where we think it is and he's either dropping really fast early or dropping farther than we think, or just plain flat as a pancake with occasional dips.

Although I suspect his dose just isn't high enough yet, and because he's staying so high he's building up a little glucose toxicity that we need to break, once we hit that breakthrough dose he'll respond better to lesser doses fairly quickly. Sometimes you have to go up in dose to come down. It's like there is a wall that you have to breakthrough before you can find the ideal dose.

he threw me a 175 preshot today amps so i shot a 1.75 ( instead of the fat 1.75 because i am working and won't be
home until 3 today. I will try to do a curve one of these days coming up. he seems to be trending downward .
we'll see where he is when i get home but today he was not eating as much as he usually does. He's still eating and
his ketones are negative but he's not as ravenous which i guess could be because his blood sugar is coming down.
He does have these crazy swings up and down though and you're right , maybe he is dropping low at some point that
i just don't know about. And. he also free feeds . i leave wet food down all the time and he nibbles all day long so
he may be eating before the preshots. do you think i should pick up all his food 2 hours before each pre shot?
Thanks so much.

Re: 11/8 Tibbs 390 amps +7 416 pmps 383 +6.5 163

so as i was reading one of your other explanations Mel , i guess i have to take all of his food away about 2 hours before preshot testing?
I have not been doing this....... did i make a big boo boo ???? that might explain his high pre shots if he is having a snack within the
2 hours before testing. I am so used to free feeding all my cats that i do the same thing with him. Of course he is separate so he can't get
into anything he shouldn't have. Hmmmmmmm... Maybe i am causing the problem by leaving his food down before preshot. I'm not sure that
he IS eating before preshot but..... i'm also not sure that he ISN'T eating so i guess i need to control this. oh boy.......

I stick as much as possible to the 2-hour fast before PS, Nadine. I value it as a good benchmark for how she's progressing overall. I keep a log of the number of hours she fasted before PS (and PMBG now she's on SID dosing). I vary Saoirse's feeding pattern a little during the day based on what her numbers are doing. Therefore there's variable food influence on the mid-cycle numbers. I keep most of her meals quite small so as to minimise the strain on her pancreas. She he still has nausea problems, though thankfully these have lessened markedly since switching to the higher protein food with the high level of taurine supplementation.

Sending hugs and scritches across the pond. Have you managed to get any rest? I worry about you.

Re: 11/8 Tibbs 390 amps +7 416 pmps 383 +6.5 163

getting a little nervous here. Tibbs has diarrhea again and he's eating alot less today. ketones were negative yesterday and i will check them again later. i HOPE he's eating less because his BG is coming down. IDK now his plus 4 is 394. he's making me a nervous wreck.

edit. he did eat a half can of food so that's good. i will do a curve next day i am home.

Poor Tibbs. cat_pet_icon

Diarrhoea's really tough. I was in bits when Saoirse had it. Thought I'd never see a solid stool again. I really, really feel for you, Nadine. I hope that it clears up quickly.

hi Áine
we are doing ok. thanks so much. Tibbs is getting some lower numbers but i have to do a full curve this week
still mr. droopy poopy pants. lol. don't know what the diarrhea is from. how are you? any news on the move yet?

I'm still a bit frazzled after Saoirse's adventures in Hypo Land earlier in the week. What bit of circadian rhythm I still have got knocked into the long grass. I'm all tired 'n' wired again. The Munchkin's insulin dose was way late today but she's doing really well. The SID dosing helps a lot. Saoirse's appetite mechanism is working better the last 2 days. She's getting hungry in response to falling BG numbers now instead of rising ones, which means she's looking for her next mini meal instead of me having to prompt her to eat for part of the cycle. She has been sooooper purry tonight. All going well, I'll post a condo for her later today. Going to head off and lie down now in the hope that the exhaustion will overtake the whizzing brain.

Hi Nadine

Just popping in to say high. That diarrhoea is annoying. Has Tibbs had a blood test recently. Maybe that might pick up if he is low or high in something. Remi was at the vets on Thursday and the blood test he was low on potassium. His faeces was a little on the wet side. Trouble is since starting the supplements he has got unwell today and I am not sure if it is related to it. Anyway just a thought.

Hi Sarah
He is probably due for a blood test... good idea. hope your baby feels better soon. cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
