Haven't posted here in a while since Sibon's numbers were great for more than a month.
Exactly 1 week ago we transitioned to raw diet using FoodFurLife's EZcomplete premix and Proviable Nurtamax probiotic recommended by my holistic vet.
His poo had changed instantly. It's now smaller, firmer and doesn't smell at all. But we had pretty rough nights of vomiting hairballs which FoodFurLife's lady explained is very reasonable when switching to raw diet.
We haven't had a number above 110 for quite a while, and suddenly it's 160 this evening.
My Lantus vial is exactly 3 months old and has tiny bubbles in it. I'm not sure if the bubbles weren't there before this week. I can also say that I tried squirting some out of the syringe on purpose and it didn't smell too strong.
Are all of these signs that it's gone bad?
I would suspect stress for the vomiting be he hasn't vomited for the last 2 days.
This really makes me sad, I really thought we were headed for an OTJ trial.

Bumping for you. I don't have much experience to say if it's good or not, but I would be suspect if it doesn't smell as strong as it usually does. I know it's an expensive prospect, but do you have a new pen or something you could try and see if it makes a difference?

Bubbles aren’t a sign of bad insulin. A vial usually lasts about 4-6 months. Could be a coincidence that the sugar is going up. Could be from vomiting hairballs. When bad lantus looks cloudy. Another sign is increased BG if it’s weaker. Next tim you buy which could be soon, get pens. I was able to use every one to the last drop.

Any chance you can get a couple midcycle tests, maybe +4 and +6? Or there about a, he was pretty much all green for a week, so just wondering if you missed a low that may have triggered a little bounce.

Are you feeding small regular snacks at regular intervals through the day? It can help stimulate his pancreas and keep his numbers level.
I found the regular snacks (3 hourly intervals) help with George if for some reason he misses one of his autofeeder snacks I notice a BG spike.

Sounds like nothing obviously wrong with the insulin. If it's been refrigerated, it should easily last 3 months as Elise has already explained.
