We are also set to reduce again because she went below 90 yesterday. Advice?

Yesterday

She ate 1/2 oz LC Fancy Feast @ +4 and +9.

ETA: decided to go for it - will test at +1 and +2.

Of course she's on the move again. Should I feed her (i'm thinking MC/HC mix) or leave it and test at +2?

And as I type this she started eating her LC leftovers so I threw in some DM kibble while I figure out what to do next.
 
58 +2 - she keeps doing this - I don't know if we just aren't getting enough food into her or what is going on.

I'm out of HC wet food in the house, but have 13% and honey.
 
I am shocked she could be going into remission this quickly - I just thought that wasn't even possible.

The feeding regimen we have right now isn't sustainable longterm. She hates the LC dry food we bought and I don't think she's eating enough with just wet food. I'm tempted to free feed the MC dry food while trying to get her on board with the LC stuff while supplementing with 4-6 wet food meals a day.

Should I move forward with that plan and keep monitoring her numbers?
 
Give it 30 minutes. I’m sorry I wasn’t back sooner. Got busy. I will be gone in about 40 minutes and then back in about in about 1 1/2-2 hours. You need to keep feeding and testing until she’s high enough like yesterday.

Have you tried Dr. elsey’s ? Young Again? Yes. She needs to eat whatever she will eat. I think you need to get her eating well and monitor her bg. No insulin while you figure this out unless she gets too high. It’s going to be a day to day evaluation. Some cats do achieve remission quickly. It also could be happening from her other health issue. Hard to say.

We got the Dr. Elsey's - the boys love it, she sniffs it and walks away. Meanwhile, she is totally happy to chow down on the stupid 'prescription' food recommended by the vet. :banghead:

I can order the YA and see if she will take to it.
 
You can get them to send you a sample of Young Again. My girls are fed raw and didn’t consider dry food to be food when I bought a bag to use as treats. They do like tuna treats now so they might feel differently now but one can’t eat so many proteins due to skin allergies that I haven’t bought any again.

the honey will wear off in about an hour right? So I should try to get her to eat more mid to high carb food?
 
Also - we were planning on going to my parents from about +7.5 - +11.5, so what should I be doing to make that safe?

Let’s see where she is before you leave. Meanwhile let’s check her again at +6.5 and if not coming up enough you can give her hc. I didn’t see the part about leaving when I said mc. Any chance you could bring her with you if not high enough?

actually move to hc no matter what.

Possibly - though I suspect my mother won't love it. Just got her to eat about a tsp of MC + pinch of MC kibble - I know the kibble takes longer to digest, but it may sustain a bump?

I think she should be coming up to the point that she should be raising in her cycle - but she had a weird dip at PMPS last night, so I don't at all know what her cycles are really doing. We haven't even had reason to complete a curve yet. :(

Do you know if kitties with low BG can have DKA? That's what I'm most worried about with going off the insulin.
 
To have DKA you need high bg, infection, and not enough insulin I believe. There’s no way she should get insulin with these cycles and new to diabetes. She wasn’t DKA at diagnosis. Low ketones is not serious. Do you have ketone strips to test her urine? Adding lots of water to her food and getting her to eat as much as you can will help recent ketones too.
 
She's at 82 right now. I tried to get her to eat HC wet, but she had like 2 bites and then stopped. I'm going to leave out the MC dry food and hope that she's just flat right now.

She is acting normal - actually more playful than she has been lately. Wanting to jump in boxes, etc. (which, she couldn't even get in a high sided box a week ago)
 
112 when we got home (PMPS). So obviously skipping again. Will likely try to give her at least two big LC meals (one right now, one likely at +8ish) and then leave MC dry out for her overnight. Does that sound like a plan?

If she's in the upper 100s tomorrow morning, should I give her any insulin, or should we just try to manage with LC food and see if she comes down naturally?

I'm also calling the vet office to set up a call with my vet sometime soon. I'm feeling unsettled about how quickly things coming under control and I'm worried that they misdiagnosed her and it's actually something else....
 
Some cats do go into remission quickly but I do think that she is because of the brain tumor if there is one. Any more neuro signs?

I wouldn’t worry about her dropping overnight. If she’s low it’s fine since she hasn’t had any insulin. Some people have tested their non diabetic cats and they are in 50’s. I’d skip if she’s in the 100’s. If in 200’s I’d give just a drop. If you don’t give it, test her 2-3 hours after she eats and see if it comes down. If yes the pancreas is coming back to life.

Thank you, Elise - I really appreciate having someone to throw ideas off of who has experience with sugar kitties.

Her neuro signs have all but disappeared, which is interesting. I'm not saying that I think the vet got that wrong - but it feels like there is a confluence of symptoms that point to a couple of different diseases and I want to make sure we caught the right one.
 
Is your vet an internist? You might need a diplomat in internal medicine to sort this out rather than a general vet. I think you are right that there might be something else going on. If the regulation was from diet the bg would be going up a lot higher from high carb food. She’s young so I hope you can get a definite diagnosis.
 
I saw the amps and you are stalling. If you can monitor closely if needed and have some hc food and supplies you could try a drop dose. I need to leave in about 20 minutes but will check back before I leave snd in a few hours if you shoot.

I'm checking her BG in a couple of hours to see if her BG drops after eating.

If she's still raising before the evening shot, then I'll consider a drop shot (I'm assuming that is the "some" picture in the fine dosing sticky?)
