Happy Gotcha Day to my sweet boy Max. Never would I have ever known what we would go through together. He’s been there for me in some of the hardest times, and I’ve been there for him as acromegaly caused so many things to go wrong in his little body. We got Max in 2011 from an animal shelter. I did not want another cat at the time. I’d just lost a cat to kidney failure. It broke my heart and my husband thought I would feel better with a new cat. He took me to Raleigh one night, saying we were going to dinner. Next thing I know we are at the animal shelter. He talked me in to going inside to see the cats. Most all of them were friendly, but Max was curled up in his cage looking so sad. He seemed as though he was afraid. I took him out of the cage and held him, then that was it. Love at first sight I guess. He had been surrendered by another family and he was 10 months old. He’s really the sweetest most loving cat I’ve ever had and I would choose him over and over again. He’s had asthma most of his life, but has done well with treatment. Not really any problems until he started having symptoms of diabetes, and acromegaly. He still plays and is very affectionate. He loves the Christmas tree every year. I put it up today, and he’s already found him a spot under it.
I’m taking him tomorrow for his checkup. I hope and pray that we get good news.
