11/8/20 - Squeaky! AMPS = 328 +7 = 71 +8=104 PMPS GOT OVER 600 twice.

Go Squeaky, he sure is getting over those bounces fast now :D I think I’d test again 45 mins after the +7

Thanks Serryn and thanks for pointing out the trend! He's eaten quite a bit, I will test again in a half hour (it's been 15 minutes). My guess is should be going up due to the food.

Since he's been eating the food could be influencing his numbers. You may want to get a +10 just to see where he is.

Thanks Carla, remember this is the cat that HATES the tests. So I don't test unless absolutely necessary....... What would a +10 actually teach me? He wouldn't be lower right, only higher?

If the food is influencing his numbers, he could potentially drop back down before PMPS.

Would he drop below 50? Just trying to understand!!!!

Boy I need to do some re-reading. Doesn't the cat's numbers go up after nadir because insulin wears off?

Yikes well it's almost time to start our routine for PS.

Are you referring to the 2 tests mentioned in your title over 600?

You do not need to seek medical advice. He is bouncing from the earlier greens. Give the usual 2.75 units.

And please take down the 911 when you've caught your breath.

Thank you, the two tests were over 600 and the meter said seek medical advice immediately.

Wow we have never had a bounce this high before. I called someone else and she said it's okay but watch him.

When should I test him next? Anything else I should do?

This is making me feel like I'm not making good choices, maybe not feeding right???? Trying to regulate his food a bit because I've been seeing some patterns of eating a lot then drinking a lot and his numbers were not coming down.

We started the methyl B12 today with folic acid also. Maybe that has something to do with this? 5 mg of B12 actually seems like too much to me. That's the quantity for a human dose with body weight of 150 lbs.

Test as usual tonight. The numbers will not come down right away. Any chance he got into some contraband?

It looks like you might have a less worrying night's sleep tonight. And congratulations on seeing green.

Less worrying sleep....... I'm feeling worried at the moment.

No, in fact he probably ate less than usual today. No contraband.

Sometimes this is just so challenging and I don't know what the heck I'm doing.

The methyl B12 would not influence his BG numbers, and any excess would simply be excreted by the kidneys, and pass in the urine. It is fairly common to have a higher dose, since only a small amount is actually absorbed. As Kel @Red & Rover (GA) said he's bouncing. I know the higher numbers can be shocking, you are doing a great job, just try and take it one day at a time, he did see greens today :D

Thank you for the reassurance, I'm such a big baby....... WOW it was the meter telling me to seek medical advice that set me off tonight.....

In a normal cycle cats come back up after their nadir. However, when a cat gets into lower numbers and you feed to keep them surfing, or bring them back up, there is a chance they can go back down after the food wears off. They can bobble up and down.

Thanks Carla! I'll get this in my brain yet.

Carla, I'm still thinking about this. Do kitties often go below 50 at the nadir? Or is it usually when their BG is already rather low AND right after their shots?
