Finally got home to be with my boy...

DH says he is eating and drinking normally (DH didnt heed my advice about restricting drinking and eating) but its been 10 hours since the operation and no issues from food or drink so we are good I guess. Also has been to the bathroom to pee and all is well there. He is very staggery and is losing his balance a bit but I dont know if thats high BG since he is prone to neuropathy (will measure in 2 hours) or post anaesthetic.

I applied a cold pack to his wound as instructed when I got home and he gets some tolfedine once a day starting tomorrow. He is currently trying to clean himself and get round the collar ;)

He is in a very cuddly mood.. more than normal.. seems like at a bit of a loss and his pupils are big ( pic above) which i reckon is the drugs from the op. Be interesting to see how he does when they wear off.

Vet says to give him his insulin as usual at 10pm since it will be 12 hours since the op....

Re: 11/7 Tiggy - post op

Hi Wendy,
We are very glad that the surgery went well and that Tiggy is recovering nicely. Sending him lots and lots of healing vines and some snowflakes, too. I hope that you all will have a good night.

Lots of hugs from us,

Ella & Rusty

I like that picture.
Looks like Tiggy is recovering nicely.
They always try to figure out how to get around that cone. I had to get a longer one since Shadow could angle it just so to get to no no's.
Paws crossed for a good report.

Somehow he managed to get the cone off and I think he had licked at his stitches. They are under the skin so he would just have been licking the wound I guess. How long should it stay on? This is going to be difficult if he can get it off.

the one I have has several different adjustments.
Perhaps it was too loose...
licking might get more aggressive especially while you are sleeping.
you'll have to ask the vet how long but I'm sure Tiggy needs it on tonite at least. (my opinion)

Yep we put it back on (tighter hopefully) and he is ok right now although he cant seem to settle. He managed to go grab his toy lion and carry it upstairs in the cone. Very cute!

He is still very weak in his back legs. Now I am blaming it on a day of high BG, his neuropathy is really sensitive to it. Hopefully it will resolve since u gave him his shot. I will be up tonite a few times to check his BG so I can also check the cone is still in place.

Cute Tiggy,

Glad he's home and doing well, I just started Noni's insulin, that's the first shot after surgery, she seems weak today, I think the pain :(

she slept all night but trying to exit my room every now and then, I remove the cone during tests and feeding to allow her to relax and lick her hands put I keep close so she doesn't touch the stitches. just for 5 or 10 mins and she likes that.

she's pees, eat and drink ..

glad to hear how Tiggy is doing and sharing how Noni is doing, please keep updating ..

hope you had a good sleep .. I did :)
