Update: I tried to give a "drop" in the evening with PMPS 131, but Emma has been dropping quite precipitously.

131 @PMPS; large wet food as usual with a few kibbles
65 @+2 , HC dry kibble snack (as usual)
52 @2.75, gave honey to prevent hypo; gave some HC kibbles
63 @3.25

I guess 212 is the result of feeding Emma a HC snack last night when she reached 76. Normally she gets LC wet snack at +5, but since she was already below 90 and I couldn't afford to stay up 2 more hours I gave her the dry food equivalent in calories.

As per @Bandit's Mom 's post, Emma earned another reduction last night with her dip. Emma only very recently came to 0.10U, though, and I'm almost certain that the only reason she went below 90 was because it was at the tail end of her prednisolone cycle. She gets a pill today, and within 18 hours I suspect even if I were shooting 0.25U she wouldn't go below 90.

After 0.1U is a "drop", right? That's what I tried to give her this morning. Would the next step then just be no insulin altogether? Thank you all for your support!

The higher preshot could be a combination of a bounce from last night's lows and a loss of duration from feeding higher carbs later in the cycle. Maybe a test earlier in the cycle could give you an early warning of an active cycle? Also, her nadir seems to be around +5, so her usual LC food might have been enough to keep her surfing.

Yes. The next dose after 0.10U is a drop. To measure a drop dose, push the plunger of the empty syringe in fully, keep it pressed and insert in the pen. Let go of the pressure on the plunger and it will draw a drop. When you insert the needle into Emma, push the plunger and count to ten if he will let you.

From the sticky on Earning reductions and starting OTJ trials:
"Prior to starting an OTJ trial, one wants to see kitty mostly in the range of a healthy cat (50 - 80 mg/dL), but under 100 overall... with only occasional readings in the 100 - 120 range.

Remission is achieved when kitty can go 14 days without insulin while maintaining normal blood glucose values under 100 overall. Most will stay in the 50 - 80mg/dL range. Although, some will occasionally experience BG numbers up to 120 mg/dL.
"

Thank you for this! That sounds right. Usually if she's 5-8mmol at +5, I'm fine with the LC wet snack for that big wave. It's the <5mmol that spooked me.

To stay consistently under 120 Emma will need to go off her prednisolone, I suspect, or stop her dry food altogether. I'll do the single-drop method and start replacing dry food more aggressively. After tonight (when she gets her pred) I will go to >90% wet food.

88 at +6, though that's because I was home late from work and didn't give her her snack at +5 on time. But she's getting only a drop anyway, so we'll continue on until she stabilizes her pre-shots below 120!

Unfortunately, quite a dip from PMPS 131 to 65 @+2. The 65 is before her HC snack, however. I should have spread it out earlier and saved some of the LC food for later.

And this was me using the drip method. I must have given her more than I wanted to.

I guess not, but I think it's worked itself out now!
I've given only very few kibbles since and I just tested her 90 @4.25. So she's on a slow upswing, and has a bit of a kibble to look forward to in half an hour.

I don't think she ever hit a danger zone, luckily. Glad I checked at +2!

If you have to feed her kibble, feed it in the first part of the cycle. Considering how much she drops at onset, you want to feed it to her at +1 and maybe even +2. You don't want to feed carbs later in the cycle. That reduces duration and contributes to bouncing.

Definitely! I always give her a gram of kibble at shot time and a 4g snack at +2. It’s only wet food later on. But this time I gave her dry kibble late in the game because she was dropping quickly.

Maybe I need to feed a little move up some kibble to +1 now that I’m shooting pretty low. :)
