11/7/20 - Mr. Squeaky Super Bounce - AMPS 472 PMPS 301 +4.5=199

around +11
It does look like a bounce but it's best practice not to feed two hours before shot time so that you don't have a food-influenced number at shot time. So if you fed at +11, then you really should have waited two hours for shot time (and you'd re-test before the shot and your PM shot would need to be 12 hours from your delayed shot).

I think yesterday's discussion was suggesting you feed more in the first part of the cycle so that Squeaky isn't as hungry the second half. @tiffmaxee had some good suggestions here and was suggesting the last snack be a bit of LC at +9. When you feed later than that before a kitty is regulated, it can impact insulin duration.

Congrats on that green last night :D

Great numbers last night. It looks like a big bounce to me. Sometimes you have to feed a small portion for a cat with stomach issues in the two hour time frame before PS time. You don't have to delay your shot just because you feed a tiny portion. I seriously doubt the teaspoon of raw pork affected his AMPS. However, if you feed a lot in the two hour time frame before PS time, you need to keep in mind if can raise his numbers. That's more important when you have low numbers.

Thanks yes I need to get organized. Wasn't sure how much food to put out actually at +5, because I was going to be asleep at +9. Mostly I'm trying not to feed him after +9 but when he asks to go outside it means he's hungry and/or nauseated. I think it's going to be a little topsy turvy for a while until I get this figured out, how much food to put out and when.

So I fed but it was more like a snack than a meal.

He's used to eating whenever he wants and it'll take both of us used to getting on a regular routine.

Thanks for your tips and instruction, what I need to do is sit down and go back over the last 7 days of posts and read all the advice so I can work with it. This morning I'm too tired and sleepy though to think much.......

Hi Carla, Yes you got it. Yes I will try, and I need to figure out how much to feed. I'm thinking for an 8:15 shot target, to feed at 8:10, 12:00 and 4:00. The amount I am not sure and egads. How can I do this without waking up all the time.

I do think if his food quantity is more consistent it can only be a good thing. I often see him eating a lot, then he goes and drinks a lot...... Moderation I think will help.

THANKS TO YOU AND EVERYONE FOR GREAT DISCUSSIONS. Takes me a while to catch on. This is a rather detailed process and I'm grateful for the coaching.

Hang in there Jan, you're doing great! I didn't go through your old posts but have you considered an autofeeder for at least the PM cycle (and AM if you need to be out). Might be worth looking in to :bighug:

Can you recommend one? I had purchased one but it didn't keep the Squeak out of it. We feed raw..... mostly..... No dry except treats.

I have the Cate Mate C500 - It has 5 compartments (1 open and 4 hidden) and ice packs. I ordered right from the manufacturer (link here) - I also ordered 2 extra ice packs in case I wanted to use it for AM and PM (so I'd just have to wash it out, reset the times, and put in new ice packs). I also have mine rotate to an empty spot 2 hours before shot time. It's definitely an investment but I personally have felt it's worth it :bighug:
