Rusty is starting out exactly where he left off last night. We'll see how he handles his new, skinny dose today. The weather is still very warm. But today we are putting the covers on our canoes for the winter (I'm not going to paddle until next spring so as not to disturb my healing). Also on the agenda: a trip to the landfill! (I know this sounds like not much fun, but our landfill has a gorgeous view of the High Peaks and the whole scene reminds me of the meadow in "The Sound of Music". And, an added "attraction": a life-size cutout of Elvis in the middle of the meadow!).
That is a nice dive into the lagoon for Rusty ! It's so warm here that I'm actually toying with turning on the AC! If only it would stay this way. Enjoy the visit with Elvis!!
I was going to take a picture of the landfill (in the village of Lake Placid) with the Elvis cutout this afternoon, but it was pouring rain. @rhiannon and shadow (GA) yes, it's a real cutout, not a billboard. Maybe I can get a shot of it when we go there again next month, or maybe I'll wait until spring (the meadow might be too snowy in winter and "Elvis" is wearing his white outfit). In any event, the cutout has been there for years. I have to smile every time I see it: when I was a teenager in the '50s all my friends were Elvis fans. I hated him then, but in the perspective of time, today when I happen to hear one of his songs I can appreciate him. (Sinatra was my favorite--still is.)
The LagoonMeister has been on duty all day. It looks like the new, skinny dose is working (maybe even too well). He has make a beginning on his dinner (Wellness Core Turkey & Duck) and is waiting for us to come down and sit with him so that he can continue to graze on it.
bbl,
Is the standup of Elvis treated with something? I can't imagine any of my standups surviving the elements - especially in upstate NY (I don't have one of Elvis, darn it, just my two favorite race car drivers). But now I understand why you like going to the landfill - a pilgrimage to admire the King!
Rusty appears to be taking his job as LagoonMeister very seriously lately. Once again, Cinco is AWOL. I'm glad the kitties all have Rusty to watch over them.
