? 11/6 Billo AMPS 266, +2 279, +6 259, +10 268 - vet visit update

Billo was quite high but flat throughout the night, but came down by AMPS. She's doing well so far into the cycle, hoping to see nice numbers soon and will keep a close eye on her.

We're going to the new vet today around +7, so I'm hoping to gain some insight on her vomiting. She vomited this morning too but it was just a transparent and clear liquid, there wasn't any food or bile.

Thank you! The vet gave me Famotidine to look after her vomiting for now, she took some blood work to send to the lab for the specfPL test and a urine sample. She wanted to test for pancreatitis and maybe a UTI that could be causing the vomiting. She said her kidneys, stomach and liver are doing fine, as part of her general check up. She said she'll get the results by next week, hopefully everything okay. Until then, she suggested I use the Famotidine twice daily.

I showed her my spreadsheet and she was impressed, but she suggested that I don't decrease the dose any more, and to keep it at 0.5 for a few weeks (unless its absolutely necessary to decrease bc of hypoglycemia). Tomorrow will be my 7th day on the 0.25 dose, so an increase back to 0.5 is due anyway. I'll keep a close eye on Billo. She said she wanted Billo to spend more time at the beach so her fructosamine levels can come within range.

Any thoughts?
 
With SLGS you hold the dose 7 days and then do a curve so the curve would be Sunday and the increase Monday. If following TR you could increase sooner. Neither method would hold for two weeks unless the numbers say not to increase or decrease. I agree it would be nice to see more time at the beach. I’m glad the pancreatitis test was done. Your new vet is doing the right thing there. The tests your old vet was using do not show if a cat has pancreatitis but might for a dog. Are you going to stick with this vet? I would.

You're right! Thank you for correcting me, my mistake for not counting properly. Thats exactly what I told her too, that eventually she's going to need a decreases, whether that's after a few days or after a week, we can't make he hypoglycaemic. I'm glad the SpecfPL test was done too, I'm quite pleased with the way she handled the situation. I'm going to stick with her, but lets see how things go next week with the results. I know that there is definitely some underlying problem which is causing the vomiting, but I really hope that it isn't anything serious
