Trish: Thanks, yes, Bupe is squirted into the cheek, but given how much was in the monojet, Tiger still tasted it and didn't seem to like it. I just thought you can get it flavored and thought it might be more appealing.

Thanks Elise, yes, I've taken carafate, so I know, empty stomach. If it were me, I feel more free to question my own physicians. I have a pretty good relationship with my own PCP, Allergy Specialist and GI and eye doctor, but since I know nothing about feline care, I am a little at the mercy of the vets. I did skip Pepcid and Clavamox today. I do have a call into our regular vet, Dr. Robertson and we will see what she says.

Thanks Carla, those pill pockets are absolutely genius!! Except they do have high carbs, but who cares if it works!

Thanks Michelle, What kind of baby food did you guy for Mannie? I was looking at the store yestereday, but realized, I have no clue? I assume the "meals" would be high carb? Pill pockets work for small things like the pepcid, but that big antibiotic, she found it when she chewed it.

We started out this morning with another iffy appetite, and another BCSS. I am still having to coax Tiger with hand feeding during the AM, but at least as the day goes on, she's eating much better. We have pee and another fairly normal poop, with no looking like we are going to vomit. We are still not real playful, I get the sense that she is a little sore, but last night and today, she jumped up on my bed and she is currently on the coach next to me purring! cat_pet_icon

Thank you so much for all the advice and experiences with pancreatitis- I am waiting for a callback from our vet regarding the medications. I skipped the Pepcid and Clavamox but gave Carafate and metronidiazole. But we will discus Cerena and Bupe. I am so thankful for any and all advice, I have absolutely no idea what I am dealing with, I know nothing about pancreatitis! With any luck, I can get Tiger back on a regular Lantus schedule as well, it's because of her iffy appetite that I don't feel confident yet. But hopefully with another day, she will improve.

Sending tons of healing vines to all the kitties in need, plus their humans! I really mean that, whether it is pancreatitis, or FD, IBD, asthma, it's all too scary, I am glad to have a place to come to, thanks so much!

I'd still ask, again, about subq fluids. Even every other day perhaps.

You can get bupe compounded into a flavored liquid but you have to be sure they do not add any sweeteners including maltodextrin. I used to have it done with a chicken flavor for Gus because he thought it tasted bad.

Foamy vomit can be from acid tummy or nausea. Since she's acting w little hesitant about eating, I wonder if it is still nausea.

More prayers for big healing!,

Sending vines your way. Ask about getting ondansetron as well. Some do better with it than cerenia and other are the opposite. Some even need both for awhile. Neither will cause any bad side effects. I don't want to worry you but Max has had bouts where he needed ondansetron for months before he got better to the point that I could stop all meds. I have been able to stop every time though. Some never go off it. I doubt that will happen but even if it does they feel good and act normal. I just don't get why vets try to stop the meds too soon. I learned the hard way to slowly ease off and would start right back up if the appetite decreased.

Marje, thanks for the reminder about sub q fluids, I haven't heard back from our regular vet yet, but now I have another thing to ask her. Thankfully, there's been no vomiting since we brought Tiger home Monday, but it seems just early morning, she is hesitant to eat unless i feed her by hand.

Hi Elise, I was wondering if the ER vet didn't take Tiger off Cerenia because supposedly you can only take it 3 days or so.(maybe the same reason for taking her off bupe?) :? At this point, since we don't have any more vomiting, maybe the Ondansetron would be better. I will put that on my list of things to ask, thanks so much!

Ruth that is not true about cerenia. They used to say to take it five days and two off but now vets that use it a lot say no need for off days. That being said ondaseteonn works well for Max. Cerenia can help with inflammation and pain which is why it helps more for some cats. The thing is p'itis caused serious nausea. Itvisctgevonlyvsymptom Max gets for sure and he needs it until his appetite is normal.

Hi Ruth ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O)

I hope Tiger is feeling better today.

The baby food I used with Mannie, was Gerber, stage 2 I believe. You want the one with no onion or garlic. He liked the chicken and the turkey. I think that BeechNut has one too. It comes in a small jar, is just the eat product, no meal, nothing added to it. I believe they are 2oz jars, found amongst the rest of the baby foods. I used maybe a teaspoon full, mixed the crushed pill amongst it all, he gobbled it up. For a while he had to take a potassium supplement, that pill was HUGE and this was an easy way to get it into him. And yes, the carbs are a little higher than LC, but come in at 8% I believe.

The cerenia and the bupe were lifesavers for us when Mannie went through this. We did the bupe for maybe 4/5 days, until he felt better. Cerenia was off and on, depending on how he felt. We also did a B12/cobalamin (SP) injection once a week for a while too, which really helped him feel better.

Feel better Tiger! Hugs to you Ruth.

Yes, Michelle, both companies make the baby food. Max and Tiffany always preferred Gerbers but it does have cornstarch in it. Max now will eat the Beechnut as well. He used to like the ham best but now my little porker will eat them all, even the turkey which he never used to like. For some reason Tiffany who would only eat Gerbers didn't like the chicken but liked the rest. Ruth, it is one of my go to foods when Max won't eat and what he gets after his gel cap of meds. I hope today is a better day but even if it is, do ask for a prescription for ondansetron. I get it at Costco and get at least 30 because it is cheaper to buy more. When I was a novice with pet meds I thought Tiffany's pills were ridiculously expensive as in $6 a pill until I found out about a stocking fee and was only being given a few pills at a time by her oncologist. That was just one of many reasons why I hated her. You or your husband can also use the ondansetron should you ever be nauseous. One of my friends got it from her doctor for herself when she had food poisioning and used it for her cat.

Since there hasn't been a Tiger condo for a couple of days I'm posting here. I hope Tiger is continuing to improve and that you are feeling better. I hope the pancreatitis will soon be a distant memory and never rears its ugly head again. Ever!!
