Pumbaa had a 159 PMPS tonight.

I will bet you anything that he'll go green tonight, and maybe even drop down below 50. (Notice the lack of an anti-jinx, because I want Pumbaa to prove me wrong for once! *LOL*)

Why do I think he'll go green, and below 50 tonight? Because I am dead on my feet after what I've been dealing with in the last week, which has caused major sleep deprivation and lots of stress. *LOL*

In any case, my mom is now home from the hospital (which is excellent), and my sister and her DH flew in tonight to help out (also excellent).

Other than dealing with my animules, and turning in my early voting ballot tomorrow, I'm sleeping and being a slug all day. I deserve it!

I'm very pleased that Pumbaa is still hitting blues at the 2.0U dose. But I so want to find that breakthrough dose where he stops bouncing, and keeps hitting consistent blue and green numbers, you have no clue.

Hope you all have great sleeps tonight, and please exercise your right to vote tomorrow.

Just remember that a number as low as 35 is probably safe - over 40-45, certainly is - even if it caused rebound. So, depending on when you get a green number, and how low it is, you may not need to worry. Sooner in the cycle and below 50 are things to be monitoring.

But I hope you can get some undisturbed sleep.

Glad to hear your mom is home and your sister and bil are there to help.

Glad that your mom is home, Suze. Does she need further treatment? Wish her a speedy recovery!
So happy to see Pumbba doing well on the "new" juice! Keep surfing the green curve Pumbba!

Thank you, all.

I've been trying to catch up on sleep and things that I've let go around here in the meantime. Including trimming 44 claws on 3 animals so that my legs stop getting shredded! It's amazing...I keep my mom's cats claws trimmed regularly, because she's on blood thinners, but I walk around bruised (from Beck) and bloody (from my two cats) because of not just stopping and taking the time to trim them all before their claws are too long. I don't know how people with a dozen or more cats deal with claw trimming! Larry, especially is bad, and sometimes it takes me two weeks just to do all of his claws since he seldom sits still for this in one fell swoop.

Mom is happy to be at home and is doing good! We don't have a pathology report back yet, but I am praying really hard that she won't need any further treatment.

Sheila, thank you for the reassurance. Pumbaa has gone as low as 38 (that I know of) without showing any signs of going hypo. I do worry about his going lower, especially if I don't intercede. Also, he normally does this in the middle of the night, and my goal at that time is to get his numbers up so that I can go to bed and not worry about him anymore. A 45 close to nadir would concern me less than a 45 early in the cycle, as you said. That is what happened on 11/2.

Time to go and try to catch up on everyone here! I feel like a fish out of water!

Easy one to answer....we don't trim the claws...lol. I have a couple that are bad about scratching people that I do trim but most of them I just don't bother. Actually I seldom get scratched up and never from the drooler.

Mel, I can't believe you don't get scratched. Are your patience pants made of steel? ;-) I need to order some of those!

Both of my mom's cats get meds, so that means every day they are sitting on my lap for this, and scratch up my legs (especially when they are trying to get away), as does Pumbaa every time he sits on my lap for testing. My civvie, Larry, has both front and back claws, and he's a "kneader", so if I don't keep his claws trimmed, he accidentally scratches me while kneading my chest and chin. Then there is the drooler, Beck, who I taught to tap my on the leg when she wants to go out. She taps HARD and scratches up my legs if I don't keep her front claws trimmed. Not to mention what Beck does to my legs when I get the customary "thank you, mom" leg hump after she eats her dinner.

Since I wear shorts at least 9 months out of the year here in AZ, my legs have been looking like a battleground the last couple of months. If I was smart, I would put a thick towel on my lap before picking any of the cats up for meds or testing, right? Duh!

And how about all of the cat claw holes in my clothes? Anyone else have that problem?

Heather, I "darn" a lot. I also "damn" and say a lot of other words I won't post here. Hahahahaha!

I generally don't have scratching problems with any of mine - except the occasional playing accident - or a frightened cat suddenly bolting from my grip.

Jeddie was another story because he loved to make nests and loved to get on my lap - so yeah, holes in all my comfy pants (which I wear at home all the time - never any "good" pants) and the matching holes in my thighs. I ended up making two "pads" from pin-wale corduroy with a thin bat inside. You can use something called Thermolam or even a piece of polar fleece. I kept one by the computer and one by the sofa so I could just grab it when he wanted on my lap. I think they were about 17" x 22". I just bought a yard of the corduroy and a half yard of the fleece. If you do any sewing these are easy to make and would work for the cat on your lap for pilling.
