Well, I never expected to have a yellow kitty on her 1 year anniversary...but the good news is she says she's feeling well enough to party! She ate breffis #1, with a little help from Kibby :roll: and is now bathing after her first Clavamox dose. She does seem to be feeling ok this morning. I'm anxious to get the results from the vet, and I'm wondering if I should go ahead with bupe this morning or wait to see what's going on. These numbers are starting to make me worry - I hope this doesn't mess up her OTJ status.

Life around here seems to be getting a little better between the adults and the kittens. Muffin, although still not too happy they are here, is beginning to be a little more accepting. She doesn't seem to mind all the time when Oscar takes her blanket or her perch. I still will move him, tho, if it seems like she wants to be where he is. I definitely want her to know that the things I bought specifically for her are hers first.

I had put in Feliway plug ins to help Shnookie, and I didn't think they were having any effect....until they ran out :lol: Seems things got a little more tense with him then, so I did go buy refills. He and Kibby have voluntarily spent several nights indoors this last week, even sleeping on the bed with me. One thing I've realized is...I need a bigger bed :lol: :lol: Mondays are weigh in days for Shnookie, and last week he was down to 19lbs 8 oz! So a 3.5 oz loss in a week! Good work Shnookie! Keep it up big guy, Mama lubs ya. He's really doing well, except that he doesn't always show up for meals on time...which is very odd as he used to be early for every meal.

While I think Muffin looks much better in green, nice to see her feeling well! Glad the home drama is sorta kinda better. :lol:

Shnookie is one of the best names ever. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Love the pics - quite the gang you have there!!! so so cute.

I am glad to read that Muffin is feeling better today - and I hope the BW gives some sot of indication what is wrong. I can imagine that the ambg is a little nerve wracking: I hope the meds etc get that back ion line soon. Good luck with it all.

Mannie is so excited about Muffin's party. He went shopping, something abut cooking to do for a special kitty...

happy 1 year OTJ!!!

Hopefully this number is just the steroid talking. Be sure to test for ketones while she is feeling off, and if her numbers stay high I wouldn't hesitate to give her a little insulin. Sorry, I know that's not a great way to celebrate OTJ, but just keep it in mind.

I sure am looking forward to your party. Chef Mannie's menu looks wonderful. I'll be doing the grillin'. Now, all you have to do is keep on feeling better and better, bring down your bgs, and enjoy your party.

Vet just called with lab results - good news is the spec Fpl came back at 1.5, so it is NOT a CP flare :RAHCAT Urine came back normal, and no glucose in it. All organ functions are normal. WBC is high, so there is an infection of some sort, we just don't know what it is. He seems to think it's in the circulatory system, maybe a virus. I'm stumped, as she hasn't been outside, there's been no sneezing, runny nose, puking, nothing like that. I am keeping Dr. up to date on her BG's and he said wait 2-3 for the clavamox to kick in and see if they come down.

Kathy - Shnookie will be pleased that you like his name :lol: And thanks, Muffin does seem to be feeling better, no matter what her numbers are saying. She's determined to celebrate!

Michelle - Thanks on the pics - sure wish I could find the camera, as Shnookie would love to show off his new clean sleek and slim(mer) self :lol: I'm wondering if he got himself a girlfriend :o Muffin is excited too, and loves the menu - all her favorite foods.

Libby - thanks so much for stopping by! I asked the vet about the dex injection contributing to her BG, and he said it could be, but that it's usually in and out of the system in 24 hrs, so I guess we'll see what she tests tonight. Hopefully she'll be coming down a little and not continuing up. He said to wait 2-3 days to let the AB work on bringing her down, but if she gets much higher, or is still about the same tomorrow, I just may give her some. I'd check on here first, tho, for dosing suggestions.

I know I'm the wrong one to say this as I am no great shakes on FD knowledge,
but judging by what has gone on with binks, somehow i am certain that even if she needs a dose or two
of support, it will be for a wonderfully brief time...binks had weeks of bad foods pushing him over the line,
and you caught her problem quickly.

and BOY...do I hear you on needing a bigger bed!! :-D :-D

there are only four of us, and yet somehow 3 kitties leave me a tiny strip of "bean space" to occupy at nappy time!

I hope the yellow BG is strictly a temporary blip due to the dex and she's just a little slow getting it out of her system.

Congratulations on the one year! And no CP flare. Paws crossed that thee final blood work will sort out the source of infection and it will be quickly taken care of.

You need special dessert for this occasion, so I have Baked a big batch of Apple - Cranberry Cinnamon Muffin Tops for the party! Be there soon! -- Tess

Good on the test results - I hope the AB's kick i soon, and the infection clear up. It is mind boggling when you can't determine the cause. Paws crossed that the AB's are the answer.

and look where you are - a whole year. that's so awesome. here's hoping the AB wipe out the mystery infection, anne!

that said.....the bg is a touch on the high side...how about giving some insulin to help her pancreas? especially if there is an infection of some sort....just a suggestion....

Michelle - Mind boggling indeed - vet seems to think it's a virus, but I'm not sure how she'd catch a virus being inside and none of the others are sick.

Julie - Yep, the chocolate frosting was a surprise to me - funny what these kibble-addicts will do for some carbs! :lol: I can't believe it's been a whole year already.

Claudia - Thanks so much for stopping by, is good to hear from you. If I had insulin in the house, I probably would've given a little today, but I threw out her old vial a couple months ago, figuring it was sure to be toast after all this time.

Marje - Yep her temp is down (I think :oops: ) and she's acting pretty normally today, aside from being so excited about her party :lol:
